Am I a Homphobe?
We have a vote coming up on May 8 it is a vote to put in the Constitution of the state of NC That Marriage is to be between one man and one woman.

I don't care what gay people do in their bedrooms, it's none of my business but on the same token I think only a man and woman should be able to legally marry... I really don't even care if Gay people want civil unions....

I am a Conservative .... and I will be voting FOR the amendment.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I've never understood the conflicting views of conservatives on this type of issue. I hear that it's the party of personal freedoms and small government and letting people thrive by leaving them alone, and then I hear, "but you two over there, you can't get married, and you over there, you can't get an abortion, and you, you can't..."

If it's not hurting anyone else, why do people care?

Probably a homophobe, but would need more info to be sure. A true conservative would think that the govt doesn't need to be involved in the marriage business.

If you don't like gay people on the basis that they're gay, you're a homophobe. In any event, I don't think the government should have any say over what two adults do. If there's a church that's willing to perform the marriage, it isn't anybody else's business.

Eh, maybe so. But I think that conservatives would claim the first part of my premise. So how does that mesh with the second? In my mind it doesn't, unless conservatives believe in government control of personal lives in some areas (e.g., social) but not others (e.g., financial).
