Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Meh No prob Notorious. I could talk Guns & Trains all night
With iron sites yes. Most peeps I know teach & tell you to make the tip of your nose touch the charging handle.= same cheek-weld every time you shoulder. I thought getting used to that scope would be hard. But it wasn't.

Now that I'll be able to legally conceal-carry, I sort of regret getting rid of my Glock 26. My XDm has a short barrel, but a very long grip. I may have to pick up something new.

Any recommendations?

in no order really; Glock 19, XD9 (I holster my 4.25" barrel and it's fine) etc if you're looking for DAO and don't want to go the sub-compact route. . In fact, I think Springfield just released an XD .45ACP that is in the compact size. (I 'think').
SA, if you're comfortable carrying cocked and locked w/safety engaged, there are a ton of great compact 1911s; ATI makes affordable ones, Taurus too I believe. after that, the Springfields, Kimbers, Sig, etc can move up to another price point depending on model.

I think I'll check out the Sig P250 subcompact - 9mm, still has a 12 round mag.

Are you sold on 9mm? I've carried a G23 in .40 for the last 8 something years, before that was G26 and G19 9mm. I like the .40 better myself, I still have 14 rounds in a package the same size as a G19 with 16 rounds, 2 less rounds but a bullet 1mm larger. The G26 is an awesome gun for it's size, however the extra size/weight of the mid size is worth it for a better grip to me.

Not really. I don't care for 45s, but I have no problem with a .40. I'm not much of a Glock fan, which is the main reason I got rid of the 26 in the first place. That and I really saw no point in having one since I honestly never thought the day would come that conceal carry would pass here in the Peoples Republik.

Personally, I think I'm going to end up carrying a 1911. not sure yet though. I want a full size first; then maybe get a 4" etc.

What don't you like about 45s? Just curious(although for the record I do love my 45s). When I was teaching a friend how to shoot more accurately, funny enough she was shooting better with my 45 than with her 9mm(I had a bit longer sight radius and more heft to the gun so it actually absorbed recoil better for her than her 9mm).

While I was originally not a fan of the USP trigger, my current favorite that I would pick if I choose to carry would be my HK45C. Nice compact format, incredibly reliable and packs a nice punch. How it's built has made me reconsider the HKs to the point I'm trying to see if I can get my hands on a Mark 23 before they finally go out of production.

Now if you're talking ultra concealability then the 9mm is probably still your only choice, but I like my punch versus size trade off o the HK45C. And even in the small package the recoil really is manageable.

If I needed something tiny I'd probably try out something like this. It really is a novel design. Boberg Arms XR9, super small and yet can still shoot 9MM+P. Because of it's design it gets nearly fullsize velocity out of a compact design.

The wife has an LC9, which I am not a big fan of.

I carry a S&W 642 with Crimson Trace handle. It forms to my body nicely, and I love the fact that there is no hammer, no safety, just a long, smooth pull of the trigger.
