Batman sequel 'Rises' again

LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008.

The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D.

Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title.

Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales.

Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP

I was hoping to view the third edition of the trailer tonight while test-running "Avengers", but they haven't sent me the activation key yet for the trailer. (Imax trailers require keys like a regular film.) Bastards.

I haven't been to many movies the last couple of years, but I told my wife we need to budget roughly 10 movies over the next several months.

Keep your eye out for one of those pass things. We have Marcus Theaters around here, and you can buy like $80 at once and get into 10 movies, saving you around $25-30.

I could be wrong about this, but I think on most first-run releases passes don't work. Which is fine if you're okay waiting a few weeks.

I only know how to do it on AMC theatres, but if you go to their website and scroll to the bottom, there is a link for 'Advance Tickets'

It looks like DK Rises advance tickets are on sale June 8th for AMC theatres nation-wide to me

The Marcus passes should work for any movie. I've bought them before here in the Milwaukee area and used them all the time for any movie I wanted.

Honestly....I think there are going to be a lot of movie goers (not hardcore Batman fans) that walk out of this movie disappointed.

I'm still a COMPLETE ten year old nerd for Batman, one of my very earliest (5-6), most fond childhood memories is taking the Christmas present i was pretty damn sure, due to box size, was the full sized, bend at every joint Batman figure ala GI Joe, i sneaked under my bed to unwrap several days early, i simply couldnt wait... i'll go see this atleast 3-4 times before i buy it for home.

Taking a plane hostage with another plane? blowing up the football game? this thing is going to RULE.

Doubt it. This movie is set 7 years after Dark Knight I believe so I doubt those are the murders they're talking about on that.
