Misc Nine Principles

I did a search and didn't find anything..

Do you generally agree with the principles below. If not which ones do you truly disagree with and why.

The Nine Principles

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

This sounds like rightwing radio wingtard stuff to me.....is it Hannity or Limbaugh?

FWIW, it's a good list....but a bit too rigid/judgemental/condescending for my taste.

that is one of the problems in the country at this point. The comments that were intially made were a slam on the source of the comments, even though you thought the list has some merit and/credibility to it.

Should it truly make any difference as to the source of the list?

Yes and no. If there is merit to them though, sources and links should be offered in the name of full-disclosure.

It was pretty predictable, given the slant and rigid nature of the list.

I think it's very American. Essentially, the principles this country was founded on and made into an economic juggernut.

That's my take as well, even though I agree with some of the sentiments....condescension and intolerance seethes from them. That's why I thought Hannity/Limbaugh. Guess I was right.

Sources will be provided later. No, it didn't come from Rush or Sean either.

I've offered a couple of improvements, IMHO.....

The Nine Principles

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God or a higher power, but respect the rights of others that don't.

3. I strive to improve myself everyday.

4. The family is the most important thing in my life. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority in our own family.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it, but justice should also strive to rehabilitate people who can be rehabilitated.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results. Pursuit of happiness must be relative to the public good.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable. However, I have a moral obligation to be a contribruting and positive part of society, if I choose to be a part of it.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion. Others are entitled to do the same.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me--unitl I break the law or refuse to fulfill my obligations under our social contract.

I would have voted yes on more of these had they been phrased differently.

I must always try to be an honest person. To say that I need to be "more" honest than yesterday indicate a lack of honesty.

Justice "should" be blind.

The Government "Should" not be able force me to be charitable.

The government is "supposed to" work for me. I "should" not answer to them, they "should" answer to me.
