"Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is lobbying for secretary of State, although Obama has been cautioned that would be received negatively by many Republicans."

What do you think about this? I remember Kerry's "passing the global test" line from the debates. I wonder if Obama subscribes to the same test.

Because when he volunteered that had not starting using SWIFT boats that way. It was pretty much right after he chose that duty that they changed the tactics and thus sent said SWIFT boats into combat zones.

He thought he was getting a cheese job and it backfired.

IIRC, the first two were very minor. Just a bandage and no missed duty. The third one made him miss a couple of days. "Walking wounded," as Kerry described them.

Actually, he did volunteer. This statement, separated with a compound appositive phrase does not speak to whether or not Kerry was aware of the danger before he volunteered. It was objectively dangerous, irrespective of Kerry's state of mind toward the assignment.
