Yeah, I kinda agree on Beam. I swear you open the bottle and people can smell it a half mile away. It's not the worst thing ever, but it isn't for everyone. I'll drink like a pint sometimes and switch to something else.

YUP!
it's been several years since my last beam night.
one of my favorite bands is Puddle of Mudd. I went to see them 3 times. after being banned from beam 4-EVER after the first & second shows....which were basically "I remember nothing" nights....I successfully SAW them the 3rd time.
guess I'm not built for beam man.

Budweiser beers are pretty much all shit, but this one, very very good.
I just finished my first 12 this past week.

The neck doesn't impress me at all but the barrel of the bottle isn't bad, for a Budweiser. I don't know if I'll keep drinking it or not, but it was much better than I expected.

I don't understand. Are you assessing the quality of the beer based on, like, the physical properties of the bottle it is contained in?

No, the first drink of every bottle tasted like a "Budweiser" to me. It didn't matter if I was having it with a steak, lunch, or watching the sun crash... the first drink or two from each bottle tasted differently than the last half to me. I do not notice this change with my regular beers.

I'm taking some to a gathering this weekend for some friends to try and am going to put some in mugs and see if I notice it. I ruined a couple Coors guys with a blind tasting of Beast last time I went and want to slip some in on an anti-Budweiser guy this time.

Could be.

I like to think I moved from being a functioning alcoholic to enjoying the taste of two instead of the quantity of 12. It's made other aspects of my life much more enjoyable as well.

Hard to believe they didn't notice the Beast. Where they already smashed? Make it Beast Ice night time, or just 211....

It was the 2nd blind test of the night done in solo cups from cold cans. No one was drunk yet. I've failed this test a couple times and my dad was a Coors drinker, so it was my first beer of choice as a teen. If you pay attention to it the smell gives it away, but the tasting screws with your head. It's why I try to give it to the "Coors snobs" so everyone gets a good laugh out of it when the biggest "all other beers suck" guy gets it wrong.

The bourbon guys turned me on to blind taste tests with the "Markers Mark is god" crowd. The power of hype and commercial branding is a mind ****.
