Anybody here ever actually run the 40?

Curious to see if we have any other athletes out here.

I don't have a stopwatch. Maybe I should see if one of my friends does and get some jackass to time me.

What's your 40 time?

You ran an 800 in 52 seconds? Wow!

We had to run a 400 in under 55 seconds for backs and receivers and while most of us made (just barely, I might add), lots of guys were puking their guts out.

I only felt sick but I wish I had hurled.

I think he must have meant 1:52 for the 800. The fastest I ever saw any guy run the 400 when I ran track in high school was about 48 seconds. Running 52 seconds in a half mile would be running over 30 mph.

34 MPH to be exact.

So 1:52 makes sense.

Got a lot of stuff on the mind today.... 52 secs was my 400 time which I never ran on race day. My primary races were the 1600 and 3200 in track. Occasionally I'd have to fill in on the 2 mile relay if somebody couldn't make the meet. It's been 23 years since HS, so I don't recall my time there either. I ran a 4:52 mile 1600, and 10:56 2 mile my senior year.

I absolutely pwned this thread.

It was hilarious.

and I still guarantee that REALISTICALLY considering the demographics of this board 0-3 people TOPS had legitimate 4.5 speed at any time in their lives.

I still don't think people realize how INSANELY fast a 4.5 is...

I honestly reread this thread for laughs and one of the posters said he as 240 lbs and ran like a 4.5...

...

...

I feel bad for some of you.

It was like

oh hootie made 15 great points

oh that's another great point

oh another one

oh but he's stupid

haha

I think if I was timed with a 4.3 40 at some point in my life...

and then I watched a combine one year and saw Jamaal Charles ran a 4.36

and then I realized he was a college big 12 track star and one of the fastest players in the NFL...

I would then put two and two together and think...

you know what? maybe I didn't run a 4.3 after all...

I used to have this same argument with my friend who believed he ran a 4.5 40 and that 4.5 really isn't that fast...

My younger brother of 4 years ran a 4.34 his senior year of high school. Scholarship offers from several schools...he elected not to play sports and instead went into the Marine Corps. He's out now, but he has his regrets.

EDITED. I thought he'd run a 4.24. He's here with me...he laughed at that. it was a 4.34, which is still blazing.
