The Browns should only take a QB in the 2014 first round if he's a sure thing

Right? I mean, that's what I've been told by numerous people on this forum.

The QB need for them is now pretty damn dire, but they shouldn't draft one just to draft one. Only if he's the right guy!

They can't afford another busted QB, right?

Right?

All of those guys weren't drafted by the Browns. And a bunch of them, like Holcomb, Garcia, Dilfer, and Delhomme were acquired as stop-gaps so that the franchise could "learn to win" a little bit before finding a long-term answer at QB.

That list represents a mountain of a franchise failure more than it damns any one particular QB-developing strategy.

Fine. Take out your QBs.

This is what happens when you draft a QB just to draft a QB.

The Cleveland Browns Named Their 19th Starting Quarterback Since 1999
George Sitaras Sep. 18, 2013, 3:41 PM 711 1

The Browns are 0-2 and once again are last in the division. To make matters worse, now they are without their starting quarterback.

The team announced today that former Patriot Brian Hoyer will get the start on Sunday after starter Brandon Weeden sustained a sprained right thumb against the Ravens last weekend.

Whether through free agency, transactions, or the draft, the Browns have had a rough time finding a franchise quarterback and still are without one after 15 years.

Here some of the Browns most notable quarterbacks that were supposed to turn the organization around, starting with the 1999 number one overall pick.

FYP.

You can just as easily blame that strategy for the Browns QB woes.

The Browns are stupid enough to probably accept.
In fairness, they did just get a first rounder for a running back that has averaged 3.5 yards per carry. I don't think they are that stupid.

I honestly believe Geno wasn't a first round pick because of his personality. He was too cocky, didn't know enough about the X's and O's (same for other QB's like Barkley) and he apparently text on his phone on visits.

I wouldn't be shocked if Chud and Gettleman did business because it's obvious that Cam shined under Chud.
Mike Shula was promoted to OC after being the only QB coach that Cam Newton has had in the NFL.

Shula was a decent QB at Alabama and he had a lot to do with Cam Newton starting off his career with incredible production.

You have not even watched any Panthers games this year. They could have beat Seattle if not for a fumble inside the Seattle 20 in the fourth quarter. Not quite sure how you blame the OC for calling plays on a 4th quarter drive that moves the ball all the way down the field against one of the NFL's best defenses just because a player funmbles at the end of a 15 yard run.

You are going to say that Rod Chudsinsky is so much better than the QB coach that he hired. Good grief, you have a lot of nerve criticizing Mike Shula as an OC when he have not watched the Panthers play this year and you did not even know that he has been Cam Newton's coach all along.

Bridgewater is a sure thing. I think your problem is talent evaluation. He was never ranked as a 3rd round pick before the season started. Everyone knew he was a sure thing last year. He's a prospect like Luck and Clowney. There is a huge difference between Bridgewater and the 2012 class. Also, you can bet your ass this all about Bridgewater. Why does the whole world know the owner went to watch Manziel in September?

I don't see Newton being dealt unless he totally tanks the season and plays like dog shit.... or has some bizarre of the field issues.

He'll probably be part of the package the new coach will be required by the owner to take on.
