Senate approves 864B spending bill (0B for Wall)

I'm actively praying Bitch McConnell and Roy Blunt get stricken with the most aggressive form of brain cancer known. I'd settle for them being in a car wreck and paralyzed from the neck down.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate on Tuesday approved a wide-ranging, $854 billion bill that funds the military and a host of civilian agencies for the next year and provides a short-term fix to keep the government open through early December.

$24.2 billion will go toward 13 Navy ships, including two Virginia-class submarines and three fast-moving littoral combat ships. The relatively small ships are intended to operate in congested areas near the shore against small boats and mines.

Yeah! We need those new Navy toys! Battle of the Sea ain't gonna win itself, boys!

The world of warfare has changed dramatically in 75 years. John Kerry said in the 04 debates we need to repurpose our spending into intelligence not weaponry. Maybe he's wrong. I don't think he is.
No, Little Bitch, you made two quite incredible remarks: You implied there aren't "sea battles" anymore, and you asked why even have a Navy.

So, if you mean, are there situations where two ships are out to sea, blowing away at each other with 16 inch guns, no that doesn't happen anymore. If you cared to familiarize yourself with our nation's history, you would learn that the first naval battle in which the ships on either side did not come within sight of each other was the Battle of Coral Sea in 1942. The modern aircraft carrier has made the mode of battle you have in mind - two tall ships doing a broad side against each other - obsolete.

However, if you don't know if the Navy actually does battle anymore, you haven't been paying attention for, well, your entire life. Have you heard of Korea? Vietnam? You know the recently deceased guy you love to hate, John McCain? Yeah, he was engaged in battle when he was shot down. Do you know the branch of the service in which he served?

How about Somalia? Do you know how those Marines actually got there? How about the Gulf War? Where do you think the aircraft came from? They just materialize over the skies of Iraq?

Hey, I wonder if anyone would **** with our interests if we didn't have a Navy? Hmmm. I wonder what the UK would have done without a Navy when Argentina invaded. Hmmmm. By the way, they had sea battles in that war. Yeah, that's right. Sea battles. Submarines, sunken ships, the real deal.

But sure, right, we don't need a Navy. And when the every third world nation in the world starts pirating our merchant vessels, we'll just ask them to stop.

If you haven't realized it, one reason that we don't get ****ed with much is that big stick we carry around.

PB delivering the scorching takes in here.

I still think they aren't quite as hot as his take that we should have a one time wealth tax on the Koch brothers and use their money to build the wall.

A bit overstated. You have to also factor in the net cost to businesses (higher cost of good sold) and to citizens (higher prices due to higher business costs). But net net, yes, of course it's a drain that needs to be solved.

But that's besides the point and it doesn't really address my point. I think a lot of the border enforcement issue is solved by much stronger border enforcement (surveillance, etc...) and actual enforcement of immigration law. Smartly structured amnesty and visa programs accelerate that process while not only adding no cost, but adding government revenue. How much does a wall and mass deportation INCREMENTALLY improve that proposed alternative? I very very highly doubt it's even remotely close to the hundreds of billions in cost we're adding to the system.

If RINOs are a majority of the GOP, just how small is the group you'd call conservatives? 5 or 10% of the total population? Are there more conservatives in the US or LGBQ folks in your opinion?

Speaking of LGBQ, would you say there's more, less or about the same amount of homosexual behavior on subs as on surface ships?
