From time to time, both online and in the real world, I run across someone who makes some grammatical mistake that annoys the hell out of me. I'm a nice guy most times, so I don't typically call people out on such errors. However, I do feel the need to vent somewhere, and perhaps help some poor unfortunate soul. So here it is. A thread to gripe about others' grammatical errors without seeming like an ass.

One rule: if you post an error in this thread, be sure to explain WHY it is wrong rather than just point out the fact that it's wrong. It's a learning experience and all that.

When people use "da" instead of "the." For example : I am Da Face and i bitch like a fourth grade grammer teacher on cp threads.

My wife is originally from Poland, and at one point, she argued that English was a very difficult language to learn.
She pointed out how we have many words that sound the same but have different meanings (to, too, two; there they're, their; whether, weather, etc...), and spelling was difficult due to all of the silly exceptions such as "phone" instead of "fone".
I countered by saying we don't have to conjugate verbs.
That's a huge pain in the ass. Needless to say, I eventually won the argument.
In Cantonese they don't seem to differentiate between male and female at all.
A woman at my work consistently refers to he’s as she’s and vice versa.
Wow, Cantonese must be a simple language to pick up.

The phrase "I could care less" doesn't make sense. At least not the way people use it. Technically, that phrase means something to the effect of "I can think of other topics that would be less interesting than the one you mentioned," which implies that it's actually a mildly interesting topic at worst.

The way people use it, the phrase should instead be "I couldn't care less," meaning that there is no other topic that would be any less interesting than the one at hand.

Like I said, this one's a tough one because both versions are pretty much accepted. However, it bugs the hell out of me because the former doesn't really make sense.

I could care less if it bugs you.
