I'm Fire Me Boy!

I got infections in my toes. After weeks and weeks of wound care treatment and tests, I went into hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy to stabilize.

They finally stabilized, but not before two toes on my left foot and three on my right were basically dead. So a surgeon cut them off three weeks ago - second and third from one; first, second, and third from the other.

A week later, I went into the ER with some bruising and redness that wasn't normal, and five days later they cut off my other big toe. So now I have two bunny shadow puppets on my feet.



The HBO seems to be working. Doc was "extremely pleased" today, which is a breath of relief for me. If these wounds don't heal, they'll have to cut further up on my foot/feet, and eventually I could lose the whole damn thing, which honestly scares the shit out of me.

So that's my latest, folks. Ask me anything.

I will eventually be allowed to move up to a walker and eventually just a cane (hopefully). Right now it’s just to keep pressure off my feet. I can stand and walk now to transfer to the bed and car and such. Balance is definitely iffy, but I’m pretty stable.

Thanks. Things are looking up. From pretty much last December to about June, things just kept going downhill but have been improving since.
