Will new Google Fi service be avilable on the Nexus 5?

I saw that Google just announced their new cell service. I currently have 2 lines on T-Mobile with unlimited data, however, I usually only use 4g/mo. on the 2 phones. After my T-mobile discount the price will be about the same.

The advantage might be that I could use the Sprint network or Wifi calling if T-Mobile has bed service in the area. T-Mobile generally serves metropolitan areas and Interstate HWY Corridors well. There service in rural areas is horrible.

I am also not clear on how they will keep your number in the cloud. Does that mean I can't use my old number?

It is currently available for the Nexus 6. Does the Nexus 5 hardware allow future use?

They're rolling out a service that looks to be exclusive to the Nexus line. I would think that this would require them selling Nexus phones.

Google is weird. They do these kinds of things with small launches so that they can see how things are going and make adjustments before they ramp it up. At some point, they will care about sales, but for now, they just want a handful of people to try it out so that they can see how it goes.

Update... have had this for two weeks now. (Formerly had sprint.)

This service is pretty stellar thus far. Switching from WiFi to a carrier in the middle of the call gives Zero interruptions.... don't even notice it.

Previously, the signal in my office and at home was sketchy (the brick surroundings seem to shroud it significantly). However, now with the WiFi calling I do not have to think twice about it.
