I'm just trying to come up with creative solutions that would prevent me from having to root for that mother****er. How about the #2 and Randle to the Celtics for the #1 overall? And here's what I just don't get about Lakers fans - you should see how many of these people want to give up the #2, Randle AND Ingram for Paul ****ing George. PAUL GEORGE!?!?! You know what happens when Paul George is the best player on your team? You're a .500 baseball team in a shitty conference. He's a good player but people are acting like this guy is Kobe Bryant. I don't ****ing get it. They're so desperate to just not be shitty that they're willing to ensure that they'll never be better than 45 wins and a 1st round loss in return. ****ing Lakers fans are, by and large, goddamn reeruned.

I hope to hell Orlando doesn't draft Ball. Even if he does turn out to be a good player. Rather have Josh Jackson.

I hear people say that they are threatened, but what exactly are they threatened by? No one ever elaborates on this. Even if Ball is a perfect business man and his son is the greatest of all time, and they sell millions, what will change? The whole point of a shoe deal is knowing that 99% of people can't create a multimillion dollar business from scratch(or think they can), with the added bonus that you would have to be in the top .1% of NBA players for this to even work out in your favor(notice that he just mentions all time greats as comparisons). For literally everyone else, the shoe companies are a win win for everyone: if I suck, I still get some financial security, and if I'm great like Lebron then I still make more money than I could ever possibly spend. If this suddenly became a trend, Nike and everyone else would just sit back and laugh at the failures. Can you imagine buying Jaylen Brown shoes? What about Brandon Ingram? For every one Guy who beat the system there are 99 who were better off doing the normal shoe deal. Even the "can't miss" guys tend to not hit their peak projections more often than not. To take your cable vs streaming analogy in a different direction, I'd argue that this is actually like me going public and announcing that I will not put my retirement money(and let's assume I'm famous and people care what I do) in some generic portfolio created by some huge company, but rather I will decide exactly what I do with each individual stock and completely bypass the middle man because screw them right? Just taking cuts of my profits. I am saying that without any experience in the stock market, I can accurately out preform billion dollar companies and am therefore better off fending for myself. Is this scenario possible? Sure, I'm sure someone somewhere has done exactly this. Are you betting on me doing it? Of course not. Am I going to bring down investment funds from the ground up by spreading my message even if I'm successful? Would investment banks be scared? Of course not, because for the vast majority of people, letting a big company handle picking stocks is a much better strategy. |
