So the NFL is really big on calling taunting penalties this year...

...but players can put on their own choreographed and rehearsed production of South ****ing Pacific without drawing a taunting call OR a delay of game penalty?

Does anybody else see a ****ing problem with this?

And note: I'm not saying go back to the No Fun League rules of "can't use the ball as a prop" or "can't do team celebrations in the end zone." I'm just saying get some goddamn consistency here.

Trash talking is a part of every ****ing goddamn sport. The refs this year are calling taunting over the dumbest ****ing shit-- stuff the fans can't see or hear. Kelce's gotten nailed for it way too many times for this to be thought of as reasonable. We've already established that NFL officials are deliberately targeting players like him.

I'm asking why. Why is that a thing? Why get your jimmies rustled by that shit if you're the NFL when trash talk is a very real and flowing part of the game? Because you're trying to prevent fighting skirmishes? Don't you think another team making a big ****ing spectacle over scoring on you will antagonize the other team even ****ing more if that's your dumbass logic?

Get some consistency. Either go back to the No Fun League to keep in line with your dumbass taunting emphasis, or let all kinds of shit fly and keep it real and entertaining for the fans.

Big ****ing problem. And sorry, but while the owners approve, this has Goodells fingerprints all over it.

It's one thing to have a lot of flags. The subjective flags have to go. If they don't lead to one team having unfair advantage, then who the **** cares?

The inconsistencies in the NFL on ALL issues from player suspensions, to DPI, to TV coverage, to favored teams, to celebrations to pretty much everything is so out of whack, including the protests. Goodall deserves jack shit

When you take away fun things the referees like to call, then they have to compensate somewhere.

I don't have a problem with it to be honest. You can still trash talk just don't do stupid shit like Kelce has. If an opponent had tried to fight Kelce after he got in their face talking shit after a touchdown I wouldn't blame them. That's what the NFL is trying to avoid.

I wonder how Dick Buttkiss would handle playing in NFL today he was all about intimidation. Barking and snarling and drooling on the football over the center.

Keep pussyfying the league Roger.

What does intimidation have to do with taunting?

Great thread, you are right, they are calling it more. I wish they could just leave shit alone.

Here is an idea, pay the officials a group bonus on each game that doesn't exceed 5 penalties.

I was watching the Montana/Montana State game yesterday and I saw over a dozen things that would have drawn a flag in the NFL after plays were over. Nothing bad, just a lot of smack talking. It was nice watching a football game without bullshit PC flags being thrown over something like that.

It seems like giving another player the stink eye will draw a flag in the NFL these days.

You also have situations like last year where terrelle Pryor on a key drive tossed the ball back to the ref and it accidentally hit his opponents hands. As for the intimidation thing, you can get flagged for pointing a finger at somebody's face.

Yeah, if you want to limit the penalty to where there's contact like shoving or touching helmets, fine. I get that point. But these non football flags have got to go. It's such a hard penalty to enforce consistently and that gives refs more ability to unfairly officiate a game. Holding gives one team an unfair advantage. Taunting does not. It has no place impacting games. At the very least would you agree a 15 yard penalty is beyond asinine?

What the **** does Kelce do that is any different than what Philip Rivers ****ing does? How do you know Kelce does "stupid shit" that is above and beyond the realm of trash talk? You don't ****ing know. You can't hear dick what he's saying.

Kelce is being unfairly targeted based on his past. There's no other explanation.
