2015 Pro Football Hall of Fame Finalists

I don't think we've discussed this yet, so here you go. Up to five of these guys (plus the one senior candidate) can go in. You make the vote when the poll goes up and I release white smoke from the chimney.

The semifinalist list is here if you want to see who got snubbed, which is mostly Albert Lewis, Everson Walls, Clay Matthews, Joe Jacoby, Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, and Randall Cunningham: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...php?p=10938513

Edit: Two other finalists weren't in the poll because the profootballhof listed them separately. Bill Polian and Ron Wolf are also finalists if you want to vote for them as write-ins.

Well, Dungy should never be in the HOF.

It just seems to me that most of the candidates have some sort of flaw that could be used against them. Whether it's Bettis with the low YPC or Harrison with the gun thing or Tim Brown with the low YPR or Haley and Seau with the mental issues (not their fault, but it's not a pr bonus) or Morten Andersen being a kicker, you can critique almost everyone. Even Shields, who is perfect, can be dinged for playing guard and not having rings.

I'm kind of surprised that Lynch isn't getting more votes. Do people think he's not worthy, or do they just think he's not in the top five this year?

Even though he's no Deron Cherry or Kenny Easley, I think he's a legitimate candidate. I just don't think he's top-five.

So with 69 votes we're recommending Shields, Warner, Seau, and Pace, and then we have several people duking it out for the final spot: Don Coryell, Tim Brown, Charles Haley, and Marvin Harrison. My man Kevin Greene's not getting much love, and my man Morten Andersen is likely a pipe dream on the first ballot.

Don Coryell? Basically started what is now offense in the NFL but did it before the NFL was intent on letting it happen.

I voted for Shields and Anderson.

I don't understand why Warner's getting so much lovin'. Dude only had 3 16-game seasons (one season with 15 games played). But most of his seasons were 11 games or less. Career rating was 93. Meh with a capital m.

I just don't see why everyone things Warner is such a lock. Personally I don't think he should be in the Hall at all. But hey, he won a superbowl so automatic qualifier.

I'm not sure either. He was great for a few seasons, then really sucked for 5 years, then was very good for 3 years at the end. A HOFer is usually forgiven for a bad year or two at the end of a career. But bad years in the middle is unusual. You're supposed to be great over a long stretch. Even if you put them together, he was good for 6 of 11 years. And probably only 3 of those were really outstanding.

How many 3 time NFL MVPs who are also a Super Bowl MVP are not in the NFL Hall of Fame?

So far only 2, both of whom aren't eligible yet: Favre and Manning.

That's because Warner "only" won 2 MVPs.

Shields
Brown
Pace
Greene (close over Haley)
Seau

All of these guys were premier players for most of their careers and impacted every game they played in while having long careers.

I wanted to put Warner in there...I really did. I've talked with the guy a dozen times at numerous charity events, I've done a bunch of work at his HS coaches house and had lots of conversations about Kurt with him and by all reports he is a top shelf guy that really lit it up...but his career didn't have the longevity I feel it takes for a quarterback to get in on his first try.

Shields dominated top shelf guys year in and year out and was a man of the year cantu date every year.

I used to banquet waiter at the Raddison where the Raiders held their camp and Tim Brown was the only guy that had class from that shithole. It sucks he was a raider because the guy is everything you want from a HOFer. Great wideout. Outstanding special teams guy and an unquestioned leader.

Pace was a guy born to play left tackle and dominate. Was an amazing player that played for a long time.

Greene was the lifeblood of a lot of outstanding defenses and was always willing to give back to the game...even to this day. Great overall defender, not just a pass rusher. Beast against the run and a smart player coach type with fire. I always admired him.

Seau was always a man amongst boys out tgere and the leader of a really good defense for over 15 years and never wanted to stop playing. Just another guy that was born to play middle linebacker and dominated the competition year in and year out.
