The Broncos won the Super Bowl due to their fearsome defense but injuries to the Steelers, Bengals and Chiefs definitely played a role in Denver's advancement the playoffs, as did Belichick's mindnumbing decisions to go for it on 4th down rather than take an easy 3's (which would have won the game for them, no question).

The Chiefs won 11 straight last year while losing their best defensive player in Houston and their best offensive player in Charles. After Charles, Maclin was their best offensive player and they lost him for the Divisional Round of the playoffs (as well as starting offensive linemen) and lost on the road by 7.

They've addressed the offensive line and secondary and have the deepest running back room in the league, while adding depth across the roster and probably most importantly, at Wide Receiver.

But I have a feeling that if they win 12 games this year and even win the Super Bowl, Chiefs fans on Chiefsplanet won't be impressed.

It's just how it goes around here.
The Chiefs don't have to be the best team in the league to win the Superbowl. Sometimes bad teams advance in the playoffs and good teams get knocked out. Sometimes the best team in September and October isn't the best team in January. It's not a rip to say the Chiefs aren't "great" at this point. Hell, you were just using the sports media to support one of your statementsaid, are you ignoring that same media when they rank KC in the bottom half of the top 10?

I've seen the Chiefs ranked between 6 and 10 (but not lower than 10) which I think is fair considering they're national writers and don't intimately follow every team, especially a team like the Chiefs, which doesn't sell papers on the East Coast.

But look, this is Year 4. This team has depth like no other Chiefs team that I can recall and they're certainly a much better team than they were in 2013 and 2014.

There will need to be a whole lot of wrong to happen for this team not to advance in the playoffs.

I think thats fair.

Sure, if you lost three centers, then it may not show on the chart as being a huge circle or a ton of man-games, but having a center start playing for you who wasn't even with you at training camp / preseason could be signifciantly disruptive.

But overall, meh. The Chargers are hardly the Ravens.
In 2014 the Chargers started 5 different Centers. Last year only 1 O-Lineman played all 16 games at 3 different positions, Another 2nd string O-Linemen played through injury all year.

That chart is worthless since it doesn't capture that level of context.

To all those who disputed my statement that the AFC West sucks this year:

Mediocre would probably be a better word. I doubt any team will contend for a top 3 draft pick, but I also doubt the division winner gets a first round bye, and would be surprised to see any wild cards.

I think the Chiefs could be in position for a first rd bye, and I think both Oakland and/or Denver (leaning more toward Oakland) will be in position for a wild card.

IMO, only because there will be 3 good teams, which will make things harder for one team to earn a bye and for 3 to get in - compared to the level of competition within the other divisions.
