Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

These guys have AK mags in stock, but you'll have to call to see what exactly they have.

$30 for new Bulgarian mags isn't a horrible deal under the circumstances.

The logic as explained to me is that the curved nature of 30+ round magazines sometimes causes the bullets to catch because of the "bullet tilt" and most mags ( including tapco mags) outside of PMAGs are more prone to this. I'm guessing this is why you see a lot of other brands tout that they have magpul followers in an effort to prevent this. I've never experienced this but just passing on what I was told.

This is why 20 "Thermelts" are generally good magazines. They are straight feed.

That's propaganda if you ask me, not a cartoon.

Thing is, people will believe that shit.
Several years ago in a gun topic when I mentioned that I hunt deer with my SKS some know nothing piped off, "What are you trying to do, blow the deer up?" and he actually thought that was a salient point.

Ok, I thought I was being cute but that’s just stupid.
This is my brush rifle. I’m not dragging my -06 through the briars, locust, hedge rows and barbed wire so when I go hunting for anything coyote size and up this is what I take and it’s a plain Jane for a reason.
I’ve had a folding stock on it that got wobbly which made for inconsistent accuracy so I switched it out for this Draganov style stock and love it. The collapsible stocks out now look to be better quality than the folding stocks that used to be on the market but I’m happy enough I’m not switching now.
I have 30 round detachable magazines for it but those things don’t work worth a damn. I’m actually faster reloading with the stripper clips it was built to use and I got real tired of dragging it through the brush and having that long mag grab every branch that went by.
The high scope mount is cast into the receiver cover so I can still use the iron sites. Even with the scope turned down to 3X when drawing down on a deer at <50 yards if you can even get the scope on target all you’ll see is fur so the iron sites are actually very handy.
The scope isn’t great, its an NC Star Mil Dot 3-9X 42mm which is good enough for me to put 10 rounds into a pattern the size of a 1lb coffee can lid at 200 yards and if I put a longer scope on it with better optics I’d also have to put a shell deflector on it since SKS’s are notorious for dinging scope tubes with ejected shell casings.
So it’s not fancy but its reliable and I’m deadly with it.
