Weird thought, but I'll post it.

How many plays on average is the RF involved in? 3? 4? 5? 2 or 3 of them are probably base hits, 1 or 2 might be a routine fly ball, and then 1 might take athleticism to make.

Wouldn't it be worth it to get 4 Billy Butler at bats opposed to risking the 1-2 defensive liabilities?

Maybe not, or maybe Hosmer could go there and be fine, although I prefer not to disrupt 2 positions instead of just 1.

I suppose this is just the fatass DH tax we have to pay.

Let me get this right.... You are proposing putting Country Breakfast in right field?

It's posts like this that make me think that we don't deserve to win anything.

I'm challenging the assertion that he or anyone of MLB quality would cost a game when you consider the cost of losing his 4-5 at bats.

And you did say that NL baseball is boring. Wouldn't that spice it up?

If we were, God forbid, an NL team, then Butler would be 1B, and Hosmer would have to learn RF.

Certainly. And really, you probably would find a suitor in the AL to get more versatile players.

I'm just looking at a short-term, 3 game series solution.

If I were the manager, I would have had Hosmer work on RF in the spring, and start him there every once in a while during the season to keep him fresh in RF so that both could play at NL parks.
