We are talking about the resignation. Of course if you want to bring up all of his tenure I think any other AG would have resigned after the first tweet. Not really sure why Sessions stayed on as long as he did.

This is a real Dexter McCluster delayed handoff up the middle move on Trump's part...

Probably doesn't result in anything bad, but certainly doesn't help.

Democrats have met Whitaker's appointment with calls for him to recuse himself from the Mueller probe.

Whitaker, who has written opinion pieces for The Hill, wrote in an op-ed for CNN last year before he was hired at DOJ that Mueller's probe has "gone too far."

"It is time for Rosenstein, who is the acting attorney general for the purposes of this investigation, to order Mueller to limit the scope of his investigation to the four corners of the order appointing him special counsel," he wrote at the time.

Whitaker also pushed back on the idea of a special counsel in an opinion piece for The Hill in May 2017, after Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey.

"Calls for an independent counsel or commission to investigate allegations that Russia tried to interfere with our elections ring hollow when similar calls for special counsels during the scandals of the Obama administration were dismissed out of hand by the same people making these demands now," Whitaker wrote.

Bummer that his opinion is not a conflict. If anyone has a conflict it is the guy who wrote the memo to fire Comey.

Are you kidding? I came up with "Yeah, get 'em!" Trump's about the most obvious person I've ever seen.

I think the Democrats can argue that he should recuse himself, based on that article. That would be.... so awesome.

I don't care. I'm decent.

If we find out this was a move to obstruct justice then I'd care. But right now there is no evidence of anything other than Trump getting rid of someone he didn't trust as is his right.

Not sure why people can't just wait to see what is actually happening before forming an opinion and acting like their imaginary reality should be treated like my actual reality.

You don't care that Trump deliberately decided to publicly humiliate one of his earliest supporters. You know, instead of just having the balls to say, "You're fired!"

Shocking that he was fired. If Mueller doesn't release his report pretty much immediately, he's an idiot. Can't see him surviving long, and it wasn't hard to see this coming.

Can argue all they want. But it is not a conflict for a lawyer to have a position on a set of facts. It is only a conflict if he is personally involved as a witness or represented the adverse party.

It's politics. If he fires him it hurts him politically. Doing it now doesn't hurt him politically.

And you acting like Trump humiliating people is some kind of special skill? He's an unstable ass. The fact that he restrained himself this long is actually a surprising display that I didn't think he could pull off.

Odd indeed, many people cited (both Democrat and Republican) in Rosenstein’s letter said Comey’s incompetent as director. Of course, you disagree with their assessment.
