MO Proposition 3 Enlightenment

I have registered to vote for the first time in my life because I want to. Twice in my life I have registered and voted because somebody else wanted me to.

This is something that matters to me.

My problem is they write these things so difficult till a saintly old bossanovalist such as myself don't know what it means if I vote yes or no.

I can not believe that I am actually going to vote on a marijuana law that actually means something.

I am a political idiot moron dumbass. I study 5-note chords for sambas and bossa novas, so please be gentle.

your noob pal,
Dinny

It seems to me that the answer depends on how popular we think medicinal legalization is in the state.

Scenario 1 - Legalization is popular by a wide margin —> Yes on 2; No on C. Or, if you prefer C, Yes on C; No on 2. Strategic voting like this will reduce the support for both 2 and C, reducing the probability that legalization of any kind will pass. That’s ok if you start with a big margin because you can afford some degradation as the price of trying to boost one option over the other.

Scenario 2 - Passage is already questionable as the medicinal legalization concept is barely more popular than the status quo if it’s more popular at all. —> Yes on both 2 and C. You can’t afford support degradation if you want some form of medicinal legalization to pass.

So which scenario are we in? Is this a close call or does polling indicate substantially more support than opposition?
All I think I know is that, if both 2 and 3 pass, whichever passes by the larger margin wins. If either 2 or 3 pass, they supersede C. The only way C passes is if 2 and 3 both fail.

I think.

You've apparently never been injured. At least he has trial experience, which is more than I can say for Aaron Sachs.

I worked for a local mediator for years. I've seen several attorneys walk through these doors. Personal injury, insurance defense, etc. I know who other attorneys tend to respect, even if it's not their area of law.

Other than being a personal injury attorney (which there are a ton of around here), what exactly makes him sleazy and crooked?

1) His doctor/lawyer/surgeon thing is a f’ing gimmick. Guess what he doesn’t practice much/any of? Medical malpractice.

2) His advertising is atrocious. Never lost a work comp case? That means you don’t try tough cases. And don’t get me started on his bagging on what other lawyers charge. The profession is reputation-challenged enough. No need to drag it down further.

3) MF wants to be the pot czar and has the temerity to solicit my firm for campaign contributions? No thanks, buddy.

Also, vote yes on Amendment 1.

Reigns in gerrymandering and money in politics.

3 is a Brad Bradshaw vanity project.

C is allegedly funded by R megadonor Rex Sinqfield as a way for the legislature to overrule 2 or 3.

I don't disagree with 1 and 2. It's advertising though. People tend to go to him first. Why? They know his name. Also, most personal injury attorneys don't try many cases. A majority settle out of court. Any contingency fee based attorney will turn down cases they don't feel they can win IF they end up going to trial.

As for 3, I completely agree. I don't believe any one person, regardless of occupation, should be a pot czar.

Anyway, I really didn't intend to be defending anyone on here. Just thought it was kind of unfair to judge someone based solely on their profession. And, as I said, I'd be against Amendment 3 regardless of who was backing it.
