Oh Beto!

Details about the time Robert "Beto" O’Rourke, the Democrat Senate candidate in Texas, was driving drunk, caused an accident, and tried to flee the scene. That card.

Quote:

1998 Police Report: Witness Claimed Beto O’Rourke Tried To Leave The Scene Of His DWI Accident

The DWI was common knowledge already but his alleged attempt to flee the scene was not.

This would be a hugely damaging hit on the left’s new heartthrob if not for the fact that O’Rourke’s opponent happens to be the Zodiac whose father conspired to assassinate JFK.

Seriously, though, you know how Beto is forever being compared to the Kennedys? Turns out they’re more alike than anyone knew.

A Texas Department of Public Safety report on the incident was based on a motorist’s description of O’Rourke’s dark-colored Volvo passing him quickly about 3 a.m. on I-10. The Anthony Police Department and DPS reports differ as to whether O’Rourke was heading east or west on the interstate, but both agree that he struck a truck going in the same direction and crossed a grassy median into the opposite lanes.

Police said O’Rourke then attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by the same motorist he had just passed. The unidentified motorist “then turned on his overhead lights to warn oncoming traffic and to try to get the defendant (O’Rourke) to stop,” the report says.

The DPS report described O’Rourke as having “glossy” eyes, slurred speech, smelling of liquor, and almost falling to the ground as he got out of his car.

He blew in the range of .135 on the police breathalyzer when the state’s legal limit was .08. He was hauled in for DWI — but charges were dismissed when he completed a “diversion program” approved by the court. It helps to have a dad who was a judge at the time in El Paso, I guess

...

He told the NYT recently that he has no desire to be president, but that’s what they all say when they’re trying to climb the ladder to statewide office. If it doesn’t work out in Texas, he can always move to Massachusetts, start drunk-driving again, and be a senator there for the next 75 years.

Had Beto ran even with 30-44 nationwide, which was +14, he'd have nipped Cruz.

Strange how life works. I also was a Dem in my youth. Of course I respected my elders unlike some. I learned young to listen to what the elders had to say, they have had life experiences. They know how the world works. I raised my children the same way. If I ever heard one of my children talking the way Oakland is, they would be spitting their teeth out!!

But my kids are ahead of the curve. 22, 19, and 19... all are voting Republican. Sadly, it took me longer to learn. I was in my late 20's before I woke up

I don't believe that. But if true, meh. Most people moving to Texas come from neighboring states like Missouri, Arky, Okla, NM, LA. They aren't coming from Cali. Id guess maybe 10% are

No Californians are immigrating to Texas at something like a 40K+ clip per year.

The next closest source in terms of volume was like New York at maybe half the magnitude as Cali with neighboring states like Louisiana and Okie in slightly fewer numbers.

Not sure what you're smoking. In a study comprising 2005-2013, 4.8M came from other states. In 2013, CA sent 60K. So taking 60/480 = 12% or right about dead nuts with my 10% guesstimate.

Damn I'm good.

Oh and one other thing: net migration, Florida + Illinois = 32K, California = 31k.

More Californians are immigrating than any other state in absolute amounts. Don't really care about % share of total migrants.

Why?

Because the largest plurality of migrants from all states are Democrats with Californians being even more Democratic than other states save for New York.

So either way: Texas will be become California Redux in short order.

A few years ago Toyota moved its American headquarters from Torrance, California to Plano, Texas. That was a few thousand people in one shot.

Of course, not all of them went, but a lot did. We have friends from our kids school. He's an architect, she works for Toyota. She moved and he stayed here with their son. They have a long distance relationship. Not sure how long that will last, but they both seemed fine last time I saw them.

It's how kids in the 80's and the baby boomers thought too. People get gas lite from a young age through the schools and college to be mindless liberal Democrats. It's a tried-and-true operation that's good for a few million NPC anti-american Democrats every year. This isn't some recent trend with the Milennials.
