Samsung Galaxy Note Pro

Looking to get a tablet for work mainly. Mostly crop scouting and mobile app usage and document access/usage from my pickup/tractor in bum**** nowhere. I'm with Verizon.

Logical choice is iPad since I have an iPhone. But it seems to me like apple is getting pretty stagnant. I'd like to get into the android systems and it seems to me like a tablet is the best way to do it. If I hate it, at least it won't be my primary device.

Dad has a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and I really like it the little bit I've used it. I wanted to get one like his so I could help him when he needed it. Unfortunately Verizon doesn't carry it.

I see Verizon carries the Galaxy Note Pro. I like what I've seen from it, but goddamn it is expensive. My question to the badassery that is the CP brain trust, "is it worth it?"

What have you all heard about it?

You can get away with it for a while if you use it very sparingly. But if you expect to tether all the time and not get caught, you're in for a rude awakening...

EDIT: Plus, most free tethering apps require jailbreak. If your iPhone isn't jailbroken, it's a pain in the ass process: http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/48837...m#.U0Qaea1dVig

Verizon had to settle with the FCC for trying to bar such applications and usage. Tethering is allowable without paying Verizon the monthly service charge. The $20/month is just Verizon preying on people's lack of understanding.

Well I'll be damned. Thanks for the link.

Why then, would Verizon tell him that he can't use the native hotspot feature on his current Verizon plan? With the info in your link, how could they deny him that feature?

Maybe I'm wrong but if he has a grandfathered in plan with unlimited data hotspots still aren't allowed without paying the fee. If you have the newer tiered plans its free.

did it happen prior to the 2012 ruling or after? and do they have a grandfathered unlimited plan?

It's a new plan. I had an unlimited data plan and they gave me a special deal going where I could get a 6 Gb plan for basically the price of 4. Sounds like I got hosed. Some more.

If you're deciding on which brand of tablet, go with the Samsung. I have one of the original 10.1 Galaxy models (3 or 4 years old) and its still going strong. My two young children have been using it for the past couple years, and its held up to everything they've done to it.

I worked about 10 miles NW of SC, and north of Healy and got perfect coverage. I don't know where you are in relation to SC but that's pretty impressive.

United covers the small towns very well. Alltel/Verizon was a call dropping nightmare when I was on their plan.

One day I'll buy some beers and grab you and your phone and drive around the farm.

I looked briefly at united. You are literally the only person I know that has it.

Ya, I just missed you that one day. I have a few bids lined up around there in the next 6 months, so I will keep my fingers crossed.
