Let's get it on!

Jan. 14, 2013

Kansas notes for Baylor
ESPN BIG MONDAY
No. 6/6 Kansas (14-1, 2-0) continues its quest for nine-straight Big 12 regular-season championships when it plays host to Baylor (11-4, 3-0) on ESPN's Big Monday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. Kansas was the preseason selection to win the 2013 Big 12 title, while Baylor was second. The Jayhawks are looking to go 3-0 in league play for the 17th time in the last 18 seasons dating back to the Big Eight Conference days. The Baylor contest will be the 799th all-time Kansas men's basketball regular-season game played in historic Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas, ranked No. 6 in both the Jan. 7 polls, is 14-1 (2-0 Big 12) on the season after winning its 13th-straight game with a 60-46 victory at Texas Tech on Jan. 12. The 13 consecutive wins tie for the seventh-longest winning streak in the 10 seasons under head coach Bill Self. Self holds a 283-54 record for an 84.0 winning percentage. Kansas averages 77.8 points per game and is giving up 60.3 for a Big 12-leading +17.5 scoring margin. Three big things that instantly worry me:

Austin's capability to pull Withey away from the basket. Austin has some range for a legit 7 footer.

Containing Jackson's penetration. Dude is unbelievably quick with the ball. He can shoot too.

Guarding the shit out of Heislip. EJ, Releford, BMac, whomever need to do a solid job.

Elijah Johnson better show up tonight.

Every year though it seems Baylor is incredibly talented and poorly coached. Drew is a turd.

Baylor has suffered losses to Colorado, Charleston, Northwestern & Gonzaga. Their significant wins have been over the rest of Texas. They're going to brag about Kentucky and a couple of others, but I think at the Phog, we should win, but it could be close - but not Iowa State close.

I'd be surprised if Withey is on Austin. I think he'll play Jefferson keeping him in the paint. Austin plays more like a 3 anyway. We'll see I guess.

I'm always worried when we play Baylor. On paper they should be competitive but Drew always manages to drag them down.

The fact that ESPN is having a weekly "proper burial" for the about-to-be broken up Big East further shows how much of a hard-on ESPN has for all things east coast. They are all "so sad" that it's being broken up. It's the most overrated piece of shit conference ever.

From the rumors Ive heard, ESPN played a major role in breaking up the Big East, after the Big East started shopping their TV rights rather than re-signing ESPN's (meager) offer.
