Playoff thoughts
I haven't really been paying much attention to the NFL with the Chiefs horrible start. But looking at the standings it looks like there would still be a possibility for the chiefs to make the playoffs. I know, I know thats not popular - lets lose for draft position yada schmada -

As of this afternoon the chiefs really aren't in bad shape in the AFC:
NYJ - 4-2
*Steelers - 4-3
Oakland - 3-3
Miami - 3-3
#Colts - 3-4
Buffalo 3-4
Kansas City - 2-5
Sandy Eggo - 2-5
*Houston - 2-5
Browns - 2-5
Jacksonville - 2-5
Baltimore - 1-5
Tits - 1-5

* Teams we have beat
# probable division winner

Obviously this list excludes the 6-0 teams who are also projected division winners.

We still play both the Charges and Raiders twice, the Bills, Browns and the Ravens - we really do control our destiny.

It helps that one whole division, AFC South, is a complete dumpster fire across the board.

Right now, I think we have to win our division to get in the playoffs. I am not sure the Chiefs can beat our Buffalo, NYJ, Pitt, or a resurgent Miami for a wildcard spot.

Aside from the cliched 'Anything can happen in the playoffs', do you really see any reason for this team to be in the playoffs?

They MIGHT **** around and get to 7 or 8 wins, just enough to tease us with thoughts of playoffs, but more than enough to completely destroy drafting in the top 10.

The Chiefs will have to go 8-1 or 7-2 the rest of the way to have a shot. The Colts are lucky that the 3 worst teams in the AFC are all in their division.

We have shown way too much suck to think of playoffs unless we start playing well every game.

If our Oline continues to improve
If Conley and Wilson continue to improve and stay healthy
Marcus Peters needs to get back on track
Sutton still isn't doing but the minimum for the defense
Reid ran the ball today but that doesn't mean he won't forget it next week

I think it depends, really.

If this team plays like it did today against all of its remaining opponents, they'll obviously be playoff ready.

If they "back" their way into the playoff because the rest of the AFC is inept, then no, there's no reason to see them in the playoffs.

But the Ravens started 4-7 a few years back, won five straight to end the regular season and ended up winning the Super Bowl.
