(Humor) Broncos to bench Manning for playoffs

Broncos to bench Manning, start Tim Tebow in playoffs

In a stunning move, the Denver Broncos have announced that they are benching Peyton Manning and starting Tim Tebow in the 2013 playoffs.

Bronco’s coach John Fox explains: “Peyton Manning had an incredible year for us. He passed for over 4,600 yards with 37 touchdowns. The way he came back after missing all of last season was inspiring. But let’s face it, Peyton always chokes in the playoffs. He’s probably the best regular season quarterback of all time, but he just doesn’t get it done in the postseason. Remember that awful pick-six he threw in the 2009 Super Bowl? That was the worst play I’ve ever seen, and it lost the Super Bowl for them. When I think about that play, I want to puke”.

Fox continued, “Tim Tebow is well-rested because he never really played this year for the Jets. I gave this a lot of thought, and I thought ‘Why not purchase Tim’s contract and start him in the playoffs?’. Tim steps up big in big games. He may have the worst throwing motion ever, but he’s a winner. I ran it by John Elway, and he agreed that this is a move we really have to make”.

Manning seemed to take the news in stride. When asked about the situation, Manning said “ There’s nothing like playoff football in my opinion. The problem is, I just suck at it. Remember how good I was in college at Tennessee? We had a great team, but we never won a national championship. It took Tee Martin taking my place the next year to bring a national championship to the Volunteer fans. That’s why I think it’s a great idea to bring in Tim Tebow. I’m not ashamed to say it: I am a Tim Tebow fan. I love that guy.”

Tim Tebow was unavailable for comment.
