Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Just watched Last House On The Left. What a lame ending. I can think of a thousand better ways to get revenge. And the head exploding was just plain dumb.

Pretty much the entire movie was dumb. The head exploding took the cake though.

I first watched it seriously about 10 years ago and though it was good but not great. Took another time watching it a year or so later that I really started to get that it was more than just a sci-fi action flick. However, it is one I can understand if it doesn't work as well for some.

The Blu Ray of it is pretty damn excellent for an almost 30 year old film.

Dish Network is running this $0.99 movies on demand through this weekend. Yesterday, I watched Green Zone and Hot Tub Time Machine.

Green Zone is a good movie. Just wish they could have left out the leftist propaganda. But if you can overlook that, it is a great political, war zone with a little action, thriller type movie.

Hot Tub Time Machine was okay. Not great but not bad. It had funny parts and it is always fun to think about what you could do if you could go back in time and change a few things.

Finally watched Shutter Island, obviously knew the ending by now, but I still thought it was well done. Would've liked to have seen an actual lobotomy in there somewhere though.

I thought the score was excellent.

Watched Remember Me, with Robert Pattinson. It was a sad movie, and had a solid message imo. He actually can act as well, i liked him in the role he was in vs the twilight crap.

Just got back from watching Knight & Day. It was silly, preposterous, predictable, and a lot of fun. Basically a Commando send-up of Jason Bourne. I enjoyed it a lot. Good mindless summer fun.

I also saw it in one of those adults-only alcohol and real food theaters, which was awesome. No brats or punks, and the price works out about the same as a regular theater. I'll definitely not be going back to the multi-plex anytime soon.

Of all movies to use up your "once in a while multi-plex" card, you choose Knight and Day?

The wife wanted to see it, and I really didn't care one way or another. It was too ****ing hot, humid and miserable to really do anything outside today.

Wait, I've never heard of a theater like this. Can you provide some kind of link to the one you went to so I can search to see if they have them here.

The Landmark theaters in Denver are exactly like this. The ones I have been to have a full bar and the tickets are not more that usual theaters. Mostly show intdy/foreign movies but one of them shows more mainstreem stuff. Thank you Mark Cuban.
