So frustrating. We were never going to walk away from Smith. This is good news for those who want a legit QBotF
I think the desire is to save $10+ million by cutting Smith and keeping Foles as the replacement, while also drafting a QBotF. If they are the same guy, take the one that costs $6 million.

Weren't we paying that fatass Chase Daniel gobs of money to be a worse backup than Foles was?

Since when does this team not overpay for backups? Hell, at least in this case Foles represents the distant threat that Alex should light a fire under his own ass and stop playing like such a pussy.

So, according to BJ Kissel on Chiefs.com, Josh Mauga is a UFA also. It was thought that he had another year on his deal but apparently he does not, and that frees up some cap space presumably.
