The country music repository thread

I've considered doing this for a long time but often figured I was the only one that cared. Kyle DeLexus' thread has shown me that's not the case.

If you have an appreciation for country music feel free to use this as a place to post videos, news, personal favorites lists, concert experiences and anything else country related. Old or new doesn't matter. Just have fun with it and ignore the haters.

Naturally I have to post the greatest country song of all time as a starter.

Oh and when I say I don't like "party country" I don't mean to come off like I don't like anything upbeat or fun... that's not the case. Maybe I shoud say I don't like songs I think are stupid and completely shallow that appeal directly to the young girls in the front few rows holding their beers up and spilling half of it on themselves while they WHOOOOOP!!! it up and try not to fall down drunk dancing to the song. Songs like "Country Girl Shake It For Me" by Luke Bryan and the new "Truck Yeah" by Tim McGraw etc etc... there's a million of them.

I just prefer music that actually speaks to me in some way and that doesn't mean it has to be particulary deep or depressing.... although I think we all know depression is where the best music often comes from.

I agree with all of that wholeheartedly.

I'm becoming milkman I think. I used to tolerate it and not worry about it too much, but as I get older, it pisses me off infinitely. People that are legitimately country shouldn't have to convince other people that being country is cool. The rage swells inside me and it is all I can do to curb the violence before people die.

Oh, and "There's Somethin About a Truck" needs to die in a fire.

On board with everything you just said.

I change the words to "Somethin About A Truck" with whatever comes to mind as long as it's hateful and profanity laced LOL.

I despise contemporary country. Absolutely despise it. Therefore I have always ignored this thread because I thought that the thread would consist mostly of posts by users who are fans of contemporary country. After skimming through a few pages on here, it appears my first impression of this thread was incorrect...which is great. Great call on whoever posted "That's My Job" my Conway Twitty. My dad used to play that song in his truck for my brother and I when I was younger....I've never met anyone else who has heard it. Props.

Anyways.

SWEDEN of all places has better folk/country that the crap you hear on the radio now. I love this band... I believe the singers are a couple of sisters. Really cool stuff. The blonde chick is hot. I think it's interesting how their accents blend in with the style.

I feel like Lady Antebellum is now going down the same path.
I'm with you on Rascal Flatts...except I like "Sarabeth" and "Fast Cars and Freedom"...

Just for grins and giggles you should ask Frazod about Rascal Flatts...

I would add "Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk" to that list...I like some of Trace Adkins music but that some comes on and I start looking for bell towers.

If you like "That's My Job" then you would probably like "The Walk" by Sawyer Brown and "Brotherly Love' by Earl Thomas Conley and Keith Whitley.

I love "The Walk" by Sawyer Brown. I'll have to check out "Brotherly Love." As the oldest of 4 brothers, I have a feeling that I will like that song. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Dr. J.....you can probably confirm this better than I can. But I have heard that many of the country artists love going overseas because they have such a cult following there. We get all the Country we want, but overseas they literally depend on the internet to get their "taste of country".

Is that true?

That's what we are all here for.

Wish there was a way to turn all these videos into a play-track from here. Sometimes I hate going to YouTube because you get commercials.

Guess that is why I have my Ipod

I'm not sure I can "confirm" but I certainly wouldn't disagree. You hear about country stars touring overseas all the time anymore so it's makes good sense that you're right.
