Great show.... listened to a couple of Band of Horses songs on youtube and ended up going to Gordon Biersch instead, but Pearl Jam was well worth it, playing for about 2.5 hours.... well, ~2 hours minus two breaks and the political statements. They were supposed to play until 11 (and played until ~11:30), and I think the Sprint Center folks were even surprised since they turned on the lights with a few songs remaining.

Here's one review with the playlist, and the setlist.fm playlist for those interested. It was a great mix of new stuff (new or new/vaguely familiar to me) and the classics... I'm usually left with "but, I really wish they would have played...", but not so much last night. Really glad I got to see them... they hadn't played here since 2003, and I hadn't ever seen them live.

Glad you had a good time, Bearcat. Theyr'e a fantastic band, and they still tear shit up live. One of the best I've ever seen.

PJ ususally turns the lights on for the last 1 or 2 numbers. Ed likes to see the folks out there in the crowd.

After 15 long years I got to see them again. And they blew me away in a way I didn't think was possible. I sat 7th row just right of the stage. They still have "it".

I saw Willie Wilson (former World Champion Royals CF) in the crowd before the show. He passed by my row and and he said to me: "I saw you at Spring Training". I couldn't believe it. Then when EV came out after the intermission wearing Wilson's jersey and said they were long time friends I was more thrilled.

When he brought out Thomas Young and introduced him I was nearly reduced to tears. The birthday cake was funny and fun and I again had to stifle back tears as Mike M. tore his guitar to shreds playing a Jimi rendition of Star Spangled Banner.

Beautiful show. Incredible.

Band Of Horses was also pretty good. Saw then at San Diego Street Scene last August. Good band. Good groove.

They just happened to be playing in a big shadow.

Yeah, I've seen some BoH live footage of them in big shows and outdoor festivals where they look comfortable... but they're definitely more of a small venue band to me. I can't really see them rocking out a stadium.

They played very well and had a nice, yet brief, set. I like their music a lot. And they were genuinely thrilled to be opening for PJ.

Nice review from a PJ fan from Ga.

Firstly KC is a most lovely city, it is the city of fountains. The local people so friendly, the food wonderful, especially Jack Stacks. The homes, stone bungalows reminded me of the architecture in Milwaukee.
We took a drive in the countryside unbelievably beautiful. Rolling hills of green, beautiful blue skies, warm sunshine, a nice strong breeze. Met a pretty horse brown and white and a couple cows. The lilacs were in bloom. I would love to go back to KC someday, it is a city to be proud of for sure.
The hotel, the Westin just gorgeous, thank you for the great deal as the earth to the sun. The balconies were closed down but they hooked us up with one that opened in the tree tops overlooking a berm with a great big bunny whom I had cocktails with and shared a bagel Lots of local birds too. A memory to hold is the blue jay drinking out of cement holes too funny, just the tip of his tail to be seen and he's a big bird!
The evening lightning storm, that Eddie mentions on the stage, was spectacular, especially listening to Pearl Jam on the balcony with the anticipation for the concert the next night. I need my science guy here again. I've got more questions, like all the lightning but no thunder?? Very cool.
This concert was the concert of great fans. I will cherish the memories of all the great people we met.The crowd was great. My view was tough and no screens available to watch but the girl in front of me was filming so I watched her phone a bit ironic after the thread here. Half way through the show the crowd parted just enough and I was in perfect line with Eddies microphone in row 28. It was nice to see him again.
So a to all my new friends, I am a lucky girl. It is the best thing about Pearl Jam, the coming together of hearts in this common love, a love of the music. And it was great! Come on Hartford!!

Yeah i work with a girl who went to the STL show. After comparing experiences I am so glad i decided to see the show in KC instead of STL... Same happened when i saw smashing pumpkins in KC and STL. The KC show was awesome and the fans at the STl show sucked so it pissed billy off big time and didn’t put on a great show.

I picked up BoH CD this weekend due to this thread. I'm starting to become a fan of theirs.

NewPhin, have you checked out Benjamin Del Shreve?

A lot of people listen to Benjamin Del Shreve around here, but I haven't gotten out to one of his shows as of yet. I'd like to, though. Speaking of BoH and PJ... this video got posted up and it's badass. PJ on "Hunger Strike" with Ben Bridwell sitting in:

Pearl Jam is still a great band. Their last two CDs have been as good as anything put out in the last few years, IMO. I've seen them 3 times. I saw them in KC on the Yield tour & it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I'm not very familiar with Band of Horses, but I'm thinking I should be. I like everything I've heard from them. I just listened to Funeral 2x in a row.
