I have been very impressed with what I'm seeing of :
Indiana's Jason Spriggs.

He looks like one of several great options that could be available to the Chiefs in the late 1st round, and would instantly fill what is likely to be a huge need at RT in the months ahead.

Spriggs is very athletic, anchors well, and has the nasty disposition you want from your OL. He also is experienced and durable, so he should be ready to play early on. He played almost exclusively at LT, but looks good at RT, and I feel KC really needs a starter at RT that could shift over to the blind side in case of injury or eventual FA departure of Fisher.

Make the OL very strong for Alex, and even if Alex is out the door in a year or two? Then you will have a strong OL in place for the next QB up.

Spriggs, Raven and Theus are the only guys in Mobile we'll look at for the position. Only guys with long arms

I think Spriggs makes a better LT than RT. Might be the most athletic one in the class, but I still haven't watched Stanley.

Tyler Johnstone, Oregon

Johnstone is a long, well-proportioned player with good thickness throughout but should add about 20 pounds in the pros. Looks to have long arms. Not too highly cut for his height. Sports excellent quickness off the snap either getting into the pads of defenders immediately or dropping into his solid kick slide. Generates decent pop into defenders with his hands, but needs to develop more upper body strength for the pros. Technically sound in most aspects. Keeps his hands inside on the defender. Generates solid movement drive blocking in the run game. Can adequately get up on second level blocks. Generally keeps his shoulders square on the perimeter and rides defenders around the pocket. Needs work on his power step to cut off inside moves. Needs to continue working on keeping square and keeping ready hands, sometimes allowing his arms to fall and letting defenders get leverage before having to recover. Must generate better foot movement after contact in the run game. Was looking to be a 1st round player before consecutive ACL injuries. May still be a 2nd day prospect depending on how teams feel about his time missed but projects as a middle of day 3 prospect at this point. Will require thorough medical evaluations.

Can someone tell me about Jerald Hawkins? Is this guy good? FWIW Matt Miller is mocking him to us and says he'd be a solid RT from day one.

I don't like him. Looks like a guard only to me, especially at this point. Terrible footwork and hand placement on the edge. He's gonna get toasted in the NFL. He needs to be inside where he can use his power.

The two guys I like early for OT are:

Joe Haeg. Dude is of size (6'6", 310 lb.) and has the best feet in this draft. Huge upside.

Germain Ifedi. Massive. Muscular. 6'6", 335 lb. Not the best feet but can just toss even the biggest guys around the field.

Later rounds:

I think Wisconsin's Tyler Marz has a chance to be a pretty good RT at the next level. Been playing LT for the Badgers for the past three years - and they put out some pretty darn good linemen.

Le'Raven Clark OT Texas Tech

6'5 1/2" 312 lbs
36 1/4 arms
10 7/8 hands

Said to have the best footwork of any OL in the draft. Already getting 1st round pub as seen here: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/mock-d...ierlein/290602

More notes on him:

Quote:
"He's going to end up being big time in our league. He's got elite foot quickness, he's long and he's smart. He'll keep getting better once he gets to a pro offense and away from that stuff Texas Tech does and he'll become one of the top five tackles in our league." -- NFC personnel director
Quote:
Clark is an ascending left tackle prospect with the elite foot quickness and length that NFL teams simply don’t pass up for very long. Clark could still use more muscle on his frame and will need to be much more consistent with his technique rather than just relying on his length if he is to reach his full potential in the pros. Left tackles with his potential in pass protection carry first round value and Clark has a Pro Bowl upside with the floor of an average NFL starter.
You can bet your ass Dorsey and Andy will love him due to his measurables and athleticism. He's going to grade high on the decision lens program.

I wonder how Dorsey's input comes out for the RT position. His RG numbers have been nearly identical in terms of a guys size. However, we really haven't had anyone solid at RT that could stick at the position and have had to rotate guys in and out of that position for three years now.

They brought in Reid, but I think that was more of an immediate necessity thing, so I'm not sure if we've ever really seen the perfect Decision Lens RT yet. I wonder if they look at the RT spot the same way they do the DT/RDE spot, which is near interchangeable. Is the LT and RT spot the same as well since they've seemed content to keep the same type of guys at both spots?

It's going to be an interesting first round pick for the Chiefs. They could go in a number of directions as they'll be looking at several players which fit the mold at a number of positions.

Well we know that arm length (at least 34 inches) is his preference for OT's. Andy loves his OL to be dancing Bears so footwork should be priority #2 after measurables.

We all know Dorsey drafts off of measurables mostly (Peters and Nelson were rare exceptions) so I think the kid will absolutely be in the discussion for 28.

The only things that scare me about him right now are his experience and strength. The bench press should tell a lot, thought his long arms will be a detriment there.
Tech played a spread offense which kills OL today. He doesn't have the experience bc of that and it might take him some time.
He's not my favorite prospect but he is the most interesting of the OL IMO.

Shon Coleman 35 1/8 arms and 10 5/8 hands. Wow. Too bad he doesn't seem to have good footwork.
Maybe he proves everyone wrong in the workouts this week.

Jack Conklin is the guy. If we want an OL he would be my pick. He'll be long gone unfortunately.

I really like Willie Beavers out of Western Michigan in 3 or 4. I'm leaning towards 4 but you never know where exactly NFL teams have a guy pegged.

Coleman is legit.

The guy spent two years plus on chemo recovering from cancer and is now declared cancer free. His footwork suffered from not being on the field for two plus years, but he's got all the tools.
