TMZ: Rape accuser attempted to extort Winston

Here's the latest of the rape allegations against Jameis Winston:

Per a report by TMZ.com on Wednesday morning, the individual who accused Florida State redshirt sophomore quarterback Jameis Winston of rape attempted to extort 7 million dollars from the quarterback.

Here is the report from TMZ:
Jameis Winston's lawyer has fired off a letter to Florida State University ... claiming the woman who accused his client of rape demanded $7 MILLION to buy her silence.

David Cornwell, the lawyer for the Heisman Trophy winner, sent a letter to FSU, saying Winston will fully cooperate with the University's ongoing investigation into the handling of the rape charges. The alleged victim claims the University engaged in sexual discrimination by sweeping her claims under the rug to protect its prized athlete.

According to the letter -- obtained by TMZ -- the alleged victim's lawyer, Patricia Carroll, demanded $7 MIL to settle her client's claims against FSU and Winston, telling Cornwell, "If we settle, you will never hear from my client or me again -- in the press or anywhere."

Cornwell says he rejected her offer and 4 days later she went to the media.

Cornwell also says Carroll claimed her client's sexual encounter had to be rape, because she would never sleep with a "black boy."

Cornwell also added in the letter that his client, Winston, will fully cooperate in the Title IX investigation but "will not walk into a honey trap. The Investigation must be a legitimate investigation."

If they get the signatures, any money made of the item should belong to the university where the student attends. It's like working for somebody. If you invent or create something while working for someone else they get the money ( and the credit pretty much).
What we can all agree with is this....
Lots of people are making a lot of money off of jameis Winston. It is unbelievable that the one guy who isn't, is jameis Winston. These rules have got to change. It's silly that this kind of stuff should even matter. Lots of kids' careers affected over a matter of a few hundred bucks.

Look, rape is a horrible crime. And, I don't know 100% certainty if he is innocent or not...but...can we at least agree that when you are someone in the public eye, you are going to get accused of crimes wayyy more often than you or me and the avg joe.

Back in college & high school, I followed some of these cases with acquaintances and friends I knew. Twice, someone I knew was accused of rape...and...after careful deliberation by the female after some weeks, they both finally admitted that there wasn't a rape. One of the accusers even apologized to the dude, and only cried rape because she was ashamed she allowed herself to have sex with him in such an inebriated state and never thought it would become as big of a deal as it did. At the same time, someone I never expected to be capable of rape was convicted of it, and he most certainly was guilty.

Just saying, don't think people should be hung by the public until there is a conviction or result for a specific judiciary committee.
Hands up, Dont' shoot!!

Well, that seems just as credible as her story. What did you expect his lawyer to say? "Yeah, he raped her. He also ate stolen crab legs off of her bare ass after knocking her out with GHB. Deal with it!"

Well, no, I did not expect him to say that or not take his side. However, that is just as much an alleged statement of fact about the case as hers is. For a defense attorney to say that, he must have some access to points of fact that we have yet to hear. I would think he'd be able to back that up in court or an investigation. It's pretty damning for her if it's the case.

Also, I was in Tally at the Notre Dame game over the weekend. After the game, I heard on the car radio Winston had signed about 150 autographs for fans on various items. Couldn't it be possible, that it was those folks who got autographs, sold them to someone?

Also, getting back to other charges: Apparently most of the students who saw Jameis make that sexual comment in the student union, thought nothing of it based on other things that have happened there. It was found out due to social media. All over the place there were signs out of frat and other blaming every little thing in their lives on Jameis as a joke. This included social media with comments like " I failed my Biology exam" followed by a hashtag then "blame Jameis Winston." It was pretty funny.

Now this last one may very well just be gossip and rumor so take it for what it's worth. The girl making the rape charges is known as a cleat chaser. Other than that, it's been mostly adults in the surrounding community that are disappointed in Jameis.
