Well, there's ol' JPM winning it. That was a really good, competitive race.

Hell of a race... I wonder if Justin Wilson hadn't pulled up in front of Power if he would have gotten to Montoya there.

That didn't disappoint at all.

Lotta Royals shirts at the track Sunday. Haven't ever seen that in years past.

Another great race. These are the glory years of Indy. Years back, these races would end with only 1-3 guys on the lead lap.

Agree, until this year I hadn't found the Indy 500 all that interesting, but it was very awesome this year.

Prolly because I started the tread!

Just completed my 22nd tour of duty, and I'm thinking I've got 30 more left in me at min. I want to hit 50 of these before I die. Be careful about ever going because once you do, every other sporting event you attend will seem like a boring POS.

Apart from the action, The military man playing "Taps" on the bugle over loudspeaker before the start....while 250k+ people are silent......it's incredible.

My son works with this group of awesome people to provide such services. We were so lucky to have a scout troop with a bugler who did the job for seven years (before he moved away for college), and it's sorely missed. I know when he blew taps each evening at camp, the commissioner always let us/him know when they would do the camp's boom-box version, simply so he could play it live first. He was one very-well complimented young man, and was always a bit of pride our troop always had as other troops who hadn't heard a real bugler got to hear one for a change. And the number of adult leaders who would show up on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th nights of camp to see him play taps was always special too.

And yes, it's always a moving experience when played at a funeral. Before he could drive and was bugling funerals where a military bugler couldn't attend, I'd drive him and stay in the background, and it was always amazing how even the birds and animals seem to stop for the playing of taps.

With all the fake patriotism out there (like the NFL teams getting paid to partake in these things), it's nice there's one place left where it's real. Where they've done tributes - meaningful tributes - for 100 years. Before TV, before social media, before advertising even. And it never changes. It's been the same forever.
