The coolest and best cooler evah!

There’s a couple of ideas here that are genuine enhancements to the traditional cooler design. Including a strip of waterproof LED lights, a ceramic blade, a stash place for disposable plates, and a divider that actually keeps water out of the other side if you choose are all things that a great cooler could and should have.

The addition of USB ports for charging phones a cameras, removable waterproof speaker for your phone, and a functional blender in the top of the machine? That’s just showing off.

They have raised $3 Million on kickstarter

What about putting up $5 for basically nothing? Or $25 for a t-shirt? Or $2000 for some kind of weird personal visit? Even if everything works successfully all you get for risking your $$ is the opportunity to buy something slightly sooner than the general public.

These are the things that I don't think are sustainable in the long run once the novelty wears off. I have no problem with Kickstarter. I just don't see how it makes sense as a long-term funding apparatus.

I work in the internet world and have worked for startups. I can guarantee you that the whole scene is 99% wild west huckster bullshit. For every potential new Facebook, there are 10,000 more startups whose only goal is to sell out to an unsavvy company looking to get in the game, or go public and sell out to unsavvy individuals. I don't see how kickstarter is going to stay immune from that.

I'm pretty sure Kleiner Perkins wouldn't exist if they weren't making money in the long run. Pets.com is a good example though of unsavvy individual investors piling on a darling stock of-the-moment that doesn't really make sense.

In this analogy venture capital partners are probably the people making slick videos and getting $3.5 million in funding out of the public for a cooler.

It has a 8 volt battery in it, less than a Makita drill so that coolers gadgets are good for a 1/2 an hour at most.

I don't know where you got this info but its an 18 volt. They have increased the length of the re-chargable batteries but kept it at the same price. 8 hours of USB charging for phone, music, laptop whatever is USB enabled. You can now mix 6 gallons of margaritas with every charge.
Only 4 days left to get the kickstarter price if you are so inclined.

Nothing on kickstarter has ever got this kind of publicity. It's went into mainstream media.
