Gary Oldman signs up for RoboCop

Gary Oldman Joining MGM's 'Robocop' Remake

Gary Oldman has inked a deal to star opposite Joel Kinnaman in MGM’s remake of Robocop.

Jose Padilha is directing the film, which is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman.

Kinnaman (The Killing) plays the title character, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer.

Oldman will play Norton, the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation.

The production is eyeing a September shoot in Toronto and has a tentative release date of summer 2013.

A bunch of liberal blowhard bullshit disguised as an action film.

Worth it for the Alex Murphy body horror, though.

Ending was stupid. Suddenly he can just pull the trigger! Gay.

Spoiler!
I'm assuming you just ruined the ending of an already terrible movie for those that have no seen it. If so you are a piece of shit. If not, then you are not a piece of shit.

Also, the first one was "a bunch of liberal blowhard bullshit disguised as an action film," but you probably liked it.

There's nothing to ruin. The plot is generally the same as the first film, just executed far less impressively.

This movie was just an excuse for liberals to flex nuts.

I did enjoy the performances, though. Although whatshisface's Alex Murphy pales in comparison to Peter Weller's.

Sam Jackson was great as Black Bill O'Reilly.

and you liked the 1st one

It's a good movie, unless you are comparing it to the original and not allow it to stand on its own merit.

It's average action schlock with political bullshit trimmings.

They're fortunate the original Robocop gave them a story to work with.

If it you get down to it so was the original, but it went for a hard R rating in comparison. Though this movie was in the guise of profit making movie. Padiha said that the MGM really stepped in and deluted the original script.

The biggest difference to me is that in the original you were really rooting for Robocop.

This one, not so much. Didn't really give a ****.

I was kind of rooting for the big bad evil corporation though. **** you, liberals.

That's because it brings nothing really fresh to the story. It's the same tale, albeit watered down and not as viscerally satisfying, with a bunch of hamfisted Republican bashing. Whee!

The original RoboCop was a classic revenge film with a hero you wanted to root for.

This new shit was a hollow imitation. Sure looked cool, though!
