Today has been very rough.

I woke up this morning and on my way to work I was thinking about how life is so fragile, how most people take it for granted. I was going to work knowing I'll be off at lunch for my father-in-laws memorial. He passed last Wednesday from cancer at the age of 57. Just thinking back on some times we had made me wish I would have done things differently. As I get to work my supervisor comes into my office and tells me that a very close coworker of mine passed away last night.

I just sat there and tried to put it all together. I was shocked and confused, I just talked with him yesterday about my vacation in Pittsburgh. He was the nicest guy I dealt with on an everyday basis, we worked together for 4 years. We're assuming it was from a heart attack. I just can't believe he's gone. He seemed perfectly normal yesterday and just like that he was gone. He was a great man.

As we finished up my father-in-laws memorial I head back to the house to get ready to do some running on the bike path. As I get out of the truck I received message on my phone. It was brother telling me that our Aunt has lung cancer. I usually don't post stuff like this, but it has been a very overwhelming day and could use some good vibes. Thanks in advance.

Yeah man, life can be taken at any moment. A very good kid that went to school with my kids died after being in an accident on Wed last week. He was 18, graduated HS last year, played in the school band. Was one of my son in laws best friends. Was pretty rough. His funeral was Mon and he was buried yesterday.
Was pretty hard in our family because not only did we know him, but it stirred up lots of emotions from when we lost our son 4 1/2 years ago. My youngest was 10 when he passed, so probably didn't fully understand losing a brother then. This one was hard in her cuz it seemed like both deaths affected her at once. Was very hard for me because the way my body handles losing my son is by blocking out lots of memories so I can make it through daily life without falling apart (or taking any presciription pills). So having to deal with the death of a young person I know really forced me to think more about the loss of my son.
The bad part is I really wanted to be able to reach out to his parents and help them in any way I could because I've lost a child so I at least kinda understand what they're going through. But it seems impossible for me to really reach out or help them because the grief that I'm blocking out is always right there waiting. All it takes is a second or 2 of thinking about my son and I can't control my emotions. So it's a rough spot for me.
Prayers, and good vibes to you and yours. Bless up, and one love!!

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Holy cow. That's tough. I can imagine burying a child. So sorry for your loss. Hang in there.

Hang in there dude. Life is indeed fragile. Grab a hold of your loved ones and let them all know how much you care. You can't go back and change the things you "wished you would've done differently" but you can keep it in mind going forward. Live your life to the fullest! Thoughts and prayers to you and yours.
