Roadies

Anyone catch this new series on Showtime?
First episode was written and directed by Cameron Crowe, which means great music and cutesy rythmic dialogue. It actually reminded me of Sportsnight from years ago. I loved it. I hope it can keep up with the first episode.

For me, it was amazing. Cameron is a unique voice in that he lived it all as a teenager, from Zeppelin to the Eagles to Sabbath to Purple to Frampton (one of his best friends) to the early 90's with Love Bone, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.

Not only do the first two episodes illustrate what goes on everyday on tour, it also illustrates the passion that the crew and people have for music.

I think it's awesome and hope the quality continues.

After Katrina, I offered my KC house for refugees temporarily. Through a local concert promoter who had picked up some guys who were left without a tour due to cancellations for a 2 month gig while they waited for those tours to regroup, I was contacted about a two month stay needed to house a couple of roadies, seemed like a good fit, they'd have work, etc.

Those assholes got fired in a few days, told me they were staying permanently, and **** you, good luck getting us out. They faked a break in in my house, sold all my stuff, everything down to light bulbs and tried to get me to make an insurance claim for a bunch of guitars, cameras, and video game equipment they claimed to have. Then they did a bunch of newspaper interviews claiming all the harassment they had encountered in KC, like me not making that insurance claim and telling them to leave my house, and getting donations from church groups to "restart." When I finally got a flight to check on things, they had trashed the house completely and disappeared with I assume a nice chunk of church money.

I tried to watch the first episode of that show, but all I see is those pieces of shit. Probably not going to get into this show!

Saw the pilot I'm pretty sure. I enjoyed it, but why has there been such an abundance of "music industry" shows lately? This, Vinyl, and Sex Drugs Rock and Roll all debuted this year alone.

Me and a buddy were at a Korn concert once and after the show we just hopped to the floor and started pushing gear towards where the roadies were pushing gear. Made a couple of trips before we did something wrong. Holy shit did we hear about it. We ran away. LOL. Good times.

I'll hang in there with it, I like Cameron Crowe and his work has always appealed to me. May take a bit to get used to the cast.

I get it but Tour Managers are business people, not roadies.

I'm looking forward to seeing where the show goes from here. In retrospect, Episode 1, written and directed by Cameron Crowe, was much better than Episode 2, written by one of the producers.

Shit, i went to add something and deleted by accident. I'm going to watch the whole season to give it a chance. I want to like it. When i used to ride on my brother's tour buses i got an outsiders look behind the scenes and was excited when i heard this series was coming out.

You could a On Demand or Showtime Now App. Plus, they'll be replaying it like crazy this week.

That said, waiting for reviews in order to binge watch later (or not) is never a bad decision.

I only watched about half of the first episode and moved on. Seemed a little cliched for me, and I wasn't buying Luke Wilson at all. I may give it another shot down the road as I've been wrong on shows in the past, but I wasn't feeling this from the get go. Who could have guessed it would open up with a sex scene???

That little setup scene with 'Hung Up on My Baby' in the background was a balm for my soul.
