I've eaten numerous times at J Gilbert's in McLean VA. Very good.

New York might disagree but I know Chicago has become a great steak city.
Capital Grille is great in most locations, so is Bern's in Tampa, The Old Homestead in the Borgata in Atlantic City, and Gramercy Tavern in New York.

I'm not a fan of chains for any type of food, especially steak or seafood.

I've had great steaks in vegas for sure.
But the traditions of the steakhouses in chicago always are a tipping point for me. Gibsons, smith and wollensky, joes downtown etc. There's just so many and they all do it right. |

Ate at the Majestic about 6 months ago, it was my first time since the new ownership took over 10 or 15 years ago, whenever that was.... it was excellent, and got to listen to Bram Wijnands again after so many years. The only thing missing was the amazing apple crisp dessert.

And with the Vegas Comments. One of my favorite places to eat steak.
I typically avoid ordering steak out because I know I can do myself, so when I do it needs to be awesome. Prime is great, great sear. I also like Vic & Anthonys. Still, I like to step back in time when going to a steak house, so my all time favorite is probably Sparks in Manhattan. Some great mod history too! |
