New PC Build

Havent upgraded since 2012 other than a couple video card upgrades so decided it was time.

Im recycling my case, power supply, several hdd's and optical drive.

-I ordered the i7 7700k for $299 shipped from newegg via ebay.

-Samsung 960 EVO 250Gb M.2 for my OS/apps/games $129 shipped from newegg

-MSI Z270 SLI Plus mobo for $135 shipped from newegg

-32 Gb (8gb x 4) corsair vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 for $220 shipped from newegg

-Cooler Master 212 EVO heatsink for $30 shipped from newegg

All I need now is a GTX 1080 to complete but Im waiting until I can get one closer to $400.

One thing I noticed is Amazon's inventory supply for PC parts is shit compared to the last time I built one. Every part I wanted was out of stock or more than Newegg and since they decided to start charging sales tax in MO I doubt I'll be renewing my Prime membership again.

Cant wait to get this beast going and do some 4k gaming on ultra

Nice, enjoy. I might have gone with a little better cpu cooler but other than that looks good.

I haven't heard anything negative about that cooler at all. It just seems like you're upgrading nicely everywhere else then going with a base model cooler, especially if you might be doing even a little OC. I don't know how much juice 4K pulls.

The 7700k has a boost clock of 4.5 out of the box. You'll hit that OC easily.

I have a 1080 myself and 4k at ultra isn't happening in most newer titles. 4k high settings though? More doable, not to mention the visual difference between high and ultra isn't something you'll be hard press to see vast majority of the time. Developers target medium and high settings, ultra just adds post processing that is hard to see if at all.

As always it varies game to game.

Well that sucks, Ive read numerous articles/posts claiming pretty much every 1080 can handle 4k on ultra on every title they've thrown at it. Maybe I should wait and see how the Vega does.

Case is fine, still using an OG PC Power & Cooling (when they were still the best PSU makers out there) 750 watt PSU from 2008 that is still running strong too. Under full load OC'ed to 4.6 CPU temps havent gone over 66 C with this buster-ass cpu cooler, and the thermal paste hasn't even had time to set yet. I'll be fine.
