This is why Trump is fighting for more fair trade with China.

Already, 4 days ago, they agreed to "dramatically reduce" US automobile tarrifs.

But Trump is a Nazi that hates the gays and wants to shoot minorities in space...

It so funny to watch people say "Trump's not going to win the fight with China"

Do they not know who holds the cards?

"China could ask for payment on all the US Notes they own!!!!"

Yeah and we could just nationalize the debt like they do, laugh at them as they realize we ****ed them. What are they going to do about it..........

China NEEDS us.

Their holdings go to 0 if the US folds.

If the US economy fails we don't spend on cheap luxury items (like $500 HD TV's from Wal-Mart,) or cheap speakers (does anyone pay up for speakers anymore?), or all the cheap plastic things...

And we can't stop drunkenly spending our money. We chose to increase our deficit through tax cuts but limited spending control. The US has options if China chooses not to renew many of their debt obligations. But they aren't great ones. And we are so entrenched in this that anything we do will have a dramatic impact on our supply chain. Which is why middle America farmers are freaking out. We're so deep into this that both countries need each other, not one or the other. Let's not overplay our upper hand. China is increasingly trying to become more independent. And that though scares Trump, and rightfully so

Something needs to be done. But maybe Trump should study what he's doing before he tweets stuff off the cuff. There were a million advisors in his own party warning him about the trade war impact on farmers. There were a million people who told him about what the tpp was - he doesn't have to like it but it's a bad look to crawl back to it because you all of a sudden realize you need parts of it.

Farmers are not "freaking out". You are a strange dude.

He said from the get go TPP was a bad deal. He has said over and over he wont accept bad deals. And so far every deal except Iran has had good positive movement for the US. NAFTA will be worked out as will some form of a TPP.

You hate his style. But as a negotiator, he has shown the impact of taking a hard position and making the other guy blink and how effective it is to give a tiny bit but only after they give a lot.

Now you go back and relax, Farmers are planting crops, baby calves are being born, and the world of ag is not "freaking out" at any level.

That's Trump right there - no more cheap hand-outs.

China, wake up, the free ride is over...

We did almost nothing to curb fiscal spending. We will continue to spend and rely on foreign debtors like China to cover our ass.

Right. Farmers are ecstatic about this. That's not quite what every REPUBLICAN senator in ag heavy states is saying. That's not what most ag trade groups have been saying well before the trade was was even introduced.

Right, this type of volatility is so easy for a Farmer. Do you have any concept whatsoever of what supply chain volatility does? Let alone a farmer who has to plan NOW for crops that will sustain them for a full year (it's not like they can decide in June/July to go off course). Let alone a raw good like soy that is perishable and can't exactly be dumped over a long period of time if we have excess supply. Farmers are proactively planning for this volatility by replacing much of their soy field with more expensive corn crop. That's how they're planning around this. And that's not at all ideal. Lots of these farms are low margin as it is, let alone introducing this kind of volatility.

He said TPP is a bad deal and not coincidentally after China basically attacked middle America in a very targeted counter tariff attack, suddenly Trump got religion about it and is crawling back to it. If he thinks it's such a bad deal, then how else can you explain the timing and desperation to get back into the TPP if it wasn't a reaction to realizing we have to protect farmers and that it should happen through diplomacy, not through cowboy attacks.
