SceneItAll Tournament: Round 8 - The Championship

This is for all the marbles. The two favorite movie scenes of Chiefsplanet have been determined, and in roughly 24 hours a winner will be declared between them. Good luck to the combatants.

Start this clip at the invasion - the 3:02 mark.

My 12th favorite scene - Poorly made bags from Django Unchained. The funniest hate crime scene ever.

It lost in Round 1 to "Houston, we have a problem."

My 11th favorite scene - the whipping scene from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. You probably have to watch the movie to truly appreciate it, but it's fantastic when you know what's going on.

It lost in Round 1 to Office Space's "Watch out for your cornhole", for which I will never forgive the voters.

Great movie, I liked when Martin asked to go to the bathroom while at the dinner table, then sits there making a bathroom face

And now, my top 10. My 10th favorite scene is Napoleon Dynamite's time machine.

It lost in Round 1 somehow to Reservoir Dogs' Tips for the Tipper scene. You disappointed me, voters.

My 9th favorite scene is the Ruprecht appearance of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. If you've never seen this movie, you're doing yourself a great disservice. The scene starts at the 1:51 mark here.

This scene was knocked out in Round 4 by Houston, we have a problem and The Godfather's baptism.

My 8th favorite scene. Tiny Dancer, in Almost Famous. What a likeable cast of characters, combined with great music. This scene only needed two lines to have its impact.

It was knocked out in Round 1 by Blazing Saddles' "Work up a Number Six". Sigh.

My 7th favorite scene: Most Beautiful Thing, from American Beauty. Perfect music, perfect dialogue, perfect acting, and incredibly original and unique.

My 6th favorite scene: the closing credits of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The gummy bear line ... oh, god, the gummy bear line. Combine that with the music and the acting, and this is a big winner.

It lost in Round 2 to Lion King's Death of Mustafa.

And now ... the top five. My five favorite movie scenes ever. Let's see how well the planet matches up.

My 5th favorite scene - the diner scene of Pulp Fiction. We've already discussed this scene. Simply awesome. It made it all the way to Round 7 and came in fourth place.

My 4th favorite scene may surprise you a little bit, but only in that it's not higher: Pulp Fiction's Say What scene:

It lost in the championship round, Round 8, and came in second overall.

My 3rd favorite scene surprises even me, but this scene is amazing. It's the final scene of American Beauty. I don't like the bloodshed at the beginning, but the rest more than makes up for it. I can take it or leave it for the 1:30, but then it hits its stride like Usain Bolt.

It lost in Round 2 to the Pulp Fiction diner scene.

My 2nd favorite scene could easily be #1, and in fact I flip-flopped on it and at one point had it as #1. Failure is not an option from Apollo 13 is everything that a movie scene should be. I want to be in that scene. I wear vests sometimes because of that scene.

It did well, making it all the way to Round 5 before getting knocked out by the Pulp Fiction diner scene and the opening scene of Inglorious Basterds.

And my favorite scene of all time? It should be no surprise to anyone who participated in the tournament. The Seurat scene of Ferris Bueller's Day Off is such a smooth and beautiful and wondrous scene that I could stare at it forever.

It lost in Round 1 to True Romance’s Drexl scene, and I curse everyone who did that to me.
