Steelers cut Cortez Allen

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-cortez-allen/

Relevant for a couple of reasons - A) with the loss of Boykin and now Allen, it seems almost a given that the Steelers will go CB ahead of us. The odds of Jackson or Apple being there have dwindled to near non-existent at this point.

B) Allen might be a nice guy to kick the tires on if his knee checks out. He'd get a chance to get back at the team that cut him and he's a bigger, stronger DB who's familiar with press-man schemes dating back to his college days.

He's not a guy I'd sign as an obvious #2 but he'd be a real nice complement and competition for Gaines. At any given point I'd think one of those guys would be healthy and effective enough to give us adequate play alongside Peters.

Is it because you feel Coleman is the only guy that can transition to a west coast offense, or do you think the other prospects will be gone?

Three things:

1. I don't think Treadwell, Thomas, or Doctson fit the profile. If Dorsey is going to draft a big-bodied WR, he's looking for a height/weight/speed freak (Conley for example).

2. Fuller is too risky/one dimensional for Dorsey to use a first round pick on. I don't think he'd take him till the 2nd.

3. I also just believe he prefers to draft WR's on days two and three. Going back to his GB days that's how it was done, and it seems like he's stuck with that philosophy so far. I'm not saying he won't do it, but it is unlikely. It would take a perfect fit (and BPA) like Amari Cooper last year or Corey Coleman this year.

William Jackson isn't worth the trade up.

Artie Burns is bleh.

I'd rather just stay at 28 and go DL than make either of those moves.
