Are you happy with the Andy Reid hire?

I think most of us are happy with the hire, but I want to gauge the non vocal approval of this hire as well as the overall approval.

He was in my top 5 after listening to those of you that live and breath football like you do, this is a compliment, I read and enjoy what you say pre and post draft included. He has a about 4 years before I start the next SOC movement. I do lurk in Draft Planet forum. So please keep it up.

I wasn't at first excited about Reid. Clearly he's had his share of personal turmoil. But I'm not hiring him to be a brother-in-law or an uncle to my kids. He's coaching my favorite football team. He's lent better results to the fans of the Eagles in the past 14 years than the previous dozen Chiefs coaches in concert. He seems to be a hard-nosed, blue collar guy with a no-nonsense approach. That's going to play very well in KC with fans, staff, and players. I have a very difficult time swallowing $8,000,000 per year but if a guy can command that kind of pay, more power to him.

I was surprised Reid signed with KC. I was almost certain he'd go to AZ.

Same.

It wasn't who I wanted, but they obviously targeted him, and they got the job done despite there being a few other places he could go. So credit's due for that as well.

Pretty much the same way I feel. I'll give him some time. I know he's going to be better than Romeo. Now for Pioli, words cannot describe how joyous I feel about that rat bastard being gone.

We'll know in four years, right now this looks like the best hire we could've made. We have no choice but to trust his decisions until he gives us a reason not to. I think that last year was just a bad year, similar to us, outside of our QB situation we weren't a 2-14 team, just as they weren't a 4-12 team. I think eventually you figure "What the hell, nothing to play for anymore." You stop running as fast, you let up on your tackles, you just understand that you have to worry about health for next year and contracts. I think the Eagles weren't the best team in the NFC East, not by a long shot, but with Michael Vick becoming a turnover machine and regressing, with Andy Reid's son's death, with the defensive cluster that resulted in musical chairs, and all after a 3-1 record to start the whole season off. I think that Reid, with a new roster, with a new owner, a new fanbase that will be a little more forgiving, and the ability to have his choice in his staff from the past success he had, I really think that this will be a re-energizing of Reid.

I don't think you can fault people for being weary, even if they don't have an issue with Reid in general. When you consider the horror that has been the past year especially, I am going to allow myself to get swept up a little. Hell, we are Chiefs fans. We know the drill on how to be crushed and disappointed. Won't be anything new if it happens. I'm not really worried about that part.

We knew for a while that Andy was out in PHI, but I never was really thinking about him in KC. I never had an issue with him overall, but he also was never somebody I was really hoping to have coach my team.

Truth is though, once you actually sit down and think about the options we have this off season, the more I liked the idea. Especially once we all realized the parameters that Clark had set, I liked it even more. When you add to that the idea that we may go after a QB it makes me more excited.

Assuming we bring in Heckert and Dorsey, I think it takes the risk down a little. Pioli came in here a dictator, at least we are bringing in a couple of heads on this and Clark is going to keep a closer eye on it.

Reid was the best coach available. I'm content with it, he has a proven track record unlike the last few coaches we've seen. So that is a tremendous plus. I also think Reid will have a huge impact on the offense with his emphasis being on that side of the ball (think dick vermeil when he first came here).

All in all, the chiefs got the best guy that they could. Good job Clark!

I like the creditably the hire brings the chiefs. I like that Clark saw a great coach become attainable and went and got him before anyone else. I want to like that it was Andy Reid, three days after he got fired from the Eagles. I want to, but I'm hesitant right now.

Sure, he's the most creditable coach we've had since either Dick of Marty, to that end maybe even more. But for some weird reason, I find myself saying, "I don't know, I know it feels like an upgrade, but is it just a case of crabs over herpes?"

It may be the best thing we've done, but I thought I felt the same way when Pioli was hired to be the BM of the future. (no typo) So now I guess I'm gun shy and want to ask more questions or something.....

I think one positive is that from Clark's actions and words, he has learned a lesson here as well. That doesn't promise any amount of success with Reid, but I don't think Clark is going to be 3 years into Reid's tenure and need another Arrowhead Anxiety or miss on Manning to realize something is going wrong.

My biggest concern was who the GM was going to be. When i first learned that Reid was going to have all the control that frightened me a little, as he hasnt had the best recent draft record. However if we get Heckert and or Dorsey, then all those fears go out the window. I really like what both have done as far a player choices and im now doubly sure that we will go qb with the first pick.

My other fear was his stubbornness to run the ball at times. However if we get an oc like Chilly, then i think we will run the ball the required amount. And even so its a passing league now..

This really is a home run hire. All hail Hunt. Even if this dosnt end up working, you cant knock his desire to try and turn this team into a winner.

Clay also put up a stat about the Eagles being 7th in rushing attempts. Not sure if it was this year or last. Clock management has always seemed to be an issue with him, but to be honest, a lot of coaches struggle with that. Way too many than it should be considering the attention to detail they have everywhere else.

The thing is, anyone who argues against Reid based on his affinity to not running the ball is a complete moron.
