Mock (4/2/13)

Here are the Chiefs picks:

1.1
3.63
3.96
4.99
5.134
6.170
6.204
7.207

The Chiefs trade Albert to the Dolphins for a 2nd and a 2014 midrounder.

The Chiefs trade down from 1.1 to 1.4 for a 2nd, a 5th, and a 2nd in 2014.

1.4
2.35
2.42
3.63
3.96
4.99
5.134
5.136
6.170
6.204
7.207

The first three picks:

1. Philadelphia Eagles: QB Geno Smith, West Virginia
2. Jacksonville Jaguars: DE Dion Jordan, Oregon
3. Oakland Raiders: DT Sharrif Floyd, Florida

On with the show:

1.4: OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M

The Chiefs most glaring need has been replaced by the best player in this draft.

1.30: OLB Alex Okafor, Texas

The Chiefs package 2.35 and 4.99 to score the potential replacement for Tamba Hali.

2.41: DE Kawann Short, Purdue

The Chiefs need to get push and some ferociousness back on their DL. DeVito is a good way to start that process. Short can be a good way to finish it, a potential replacement for Tyson Jackson.

3.63: S Bacarri Rambo, Georgia

The Chiefs need some permanent solutions at safety, rather than patches like Abdullah and Lewis, talented though they may be.

3.96: ILB Kiko Alonso, Oregon

The Chiefs love Oregon, and Alonso provides them a degree of versatility from the sam backer position they definitely lacked with Belcher.

4.122: RB Mike Gillislee, Florida

The Chiefs packed their 5.134 and 6.170 to bring in more weaponry in their offense. Providing some depth for the inevitable RB injuries is always a smart move.

5.136: WR Marquise Goodwin, Texas

The Chiefs need a one-dimensional deep threat.

6.204: OG/C Braden Hansen, BYU

Some interior line depth, and an experienced hand at center, should the Chiefs need a starter in place of Rodney Hudson.

7.207: ILB Vince Williams, Florida State

He was in town recently, and the Chiefs are in need of far more depth at ILB.

Direckshun, have you given thought much to our Luke Joeckel bet? I'm still interested in going through if you've got some creative themes in case you lose.

If not, that's also cool. Was just curious.

Its a realistic scenario.........If you recouped a second, and you need to fill that need at the second ILB, kevin Reddick from unc would be a beast of a get.

#Florida RB Mike Gillislee is the Rb I feel is criminally underrated by the scouting community...

I am seriously in on that bet. Agreeing on compensation is the only sticking point.

I am PMing you some ideas here in a moment.

I don't mind this. I like the trade scenarios as well.

I would change Joke to Fischer. And another point, people need to stop underestimating the RB depth already on this roster. Draughn and especially Gray are worthy enough that we don't need to waste picks in this draft on this position, IMO of course. Also, not that you did, but please I hope the Chiefs don't draft a FB. Hopefully the dude they picked up from the Vikes will prevent that.

There's no way anyone trades to the #1 to draft Geno Smith.

Eagles and Jags have both shown an insane amount of interest in him. Very likely we can get a trade with the Eagles. Geno fits their offense perfectly.

I don't think Joeckel is the best tackle in this draft either.

I'm not going to flip out if we pick him, but I think Fisher is better than Joeckel too.
