Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

just another bullshit survey.

Statistics on gun ownership across the U.S. are hard to nail down; the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is not all-inclusive, and some guns go unregistered.

But "Injury Prevention," a scholarly journal, has released what may be the closest look yet. Their survey, published in 2015, asked a representative sample of 4,000 adults nationwide whether they own firearms. The findings helped the research group estimate gun ownership rates in each state.

Yeah, I don't put a lot of "stock" in surveys - they can usually reflect what the survey sponsor wants them to.

Frankly, if I had to put a bet down right now, today, I would say that at the very least (Nationwide) gun ownership would be at around 57-59% of the population is armed - with at least one gun and probably 45% is armed with two or more guns.

I dont know if i would believe those numbers. You have to remember that the most population dense areas of the country are liberal meccas where guns are highly regulated, frowned upon orpeople are not typically buying guns.

I would say somewhere between 30 to 40 percent of people own firearms.

You mean "liberal" like Chicago? Or Washington DC? Or Philly? Maybe New York? I don't know, but I'd be willing to place a fairly large bet that (in those cities) there are a BOATLOAD of weapons.....but, of course, I "could" be wrong.

I'd still bet on the 57% figure though.....

My dad is getting older and is close to retirement, i went and had lunch with them for Easter. He said he never shoots anymore and wanted me to pick out a few of his guns to take home with me.

So the Easter bunny left me with a Norinco SKS and a Ruger 10/22 with a walnut stock.

Pretty excited.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but I was unaware. Apparently Remington filed for bankruptcy.

Is .22 still hard to find?

No, but it’s always nice to have a surplus of .22LR

Not really, but if I were you (just friendly advice) I would buy as much as I can and keep it on hand.

I look for the prices of ALL ammo to rise dramatically in the next couple of months.

I usually pick up a box or two of ammo every time i go to Wal-Mart. I started buying it thinking hilldog was gonna become president.

I have one box of about 400rds of .22 that my dad gave to me too.. but I'll probably scoop up a few thousand in the next month or so.
