Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

Who on this board would not be happy if we had a QB that put up those kind of numbers??

Just read Kiper and basically None of the top picks "fit" with our team-LOL Really?? 2-14 and we can't use any of these guys. You are talking about a team that was sooo Bad at QB that they tired a record for Not scoring TD's with the Worst team in Football.

So u puss out and trade down to the Cards and pick up a Blue Chip player and an extra pick-then what? Chiefs have to pull the trigger on this guy and then beef up the O line so he does not get killed.

Seems like a no brainer for a team that drafted Blackledge as the last QB taken in the first round in decades??

To your last point we're just having a conversation in Jan. I am not hating on the guy. Far from it. Frankly I'm perfectly fine w/ them taking him if that's what they want to do. Relax.
I am pretty chill here.

I just don't get the point of what you are doing. I mean if you actually had an opinion and had a basis for it would be one thing.

But you don't so why are you even posting? There are twenty of you doing this exact same thing. Every day. In most threads.

OH THANK GOD ONE SANE PERSON

Listening to Bucky Brooks and Matt Money Smith on a podcast. They spent about fifteen minutes talking about the Reid hire, the talent on the team, what went wrong with Romeo and the team.

Finally they get to where the Chiefs go with the #1 pick. And after light discussion of Joeckel where Bucky Brooks is underwhelmed by him, he says "I think it will be quarterback, and if you look at what Andy Reid likes, it's Geno Smith."

I'm so relieved there is one person who isn't buying into this crap.

That's fair but honestly dude there are 653 pages. I am just shooting the breeze on a Thurs in Jan.

He is the only top guy I didn't watch a full game of this yr. So ironically I have my opinions about really all of them except him.

I have tried to read up on him as much as possible since the season ended for obvious reasons and will watch whatever I can between now and the draft on ESPNU or whatever. The #'s pop off the page there ain't no question about that.

One thing that does scare the hell out of me is Brandon Albert's back.. I'm really worried about it. It didn't seem to be getting any better by the end of the year, and like Gaither once he started having back problems he was just never the same and never healthy. I think albert is one of the best in the league and definitely want him to be healthy but it scares me that it's the beginning of the end for him, stephenson showed promise but do we want to risk our new shiny QB to someone showing promise if albert can't' go, on top of paying albert top LT wages only to not be what he once was?

I'm not saying i want to take LT with first pick but if reid and trainers and doctors come to the conclussion albert isn't ready i think he walks and they do draft LT. THen i just hope maybe we can sneak back into the first or 1 of the top 3 QB's will be there for us in the second but i doubt it.

I would rather they still take a QB first and then draft a tackle in 2r if that's really the case. Or address it through free agency. You don't have to have Tony Boselli to win a Super Bowl. I will take a great QB and good LT vs the other way around any day of the week.

however we fix it is fine i'm just tired of our O-Line getting manhandled by the raiders. So whatever we got to do. I know reid likes bigger mammoth of men on his o-line and we are alittle on the light side so maybe he revamps it who knows.. I hope albert is ok and we don't have to worry about that position though

It's not that simple. Bowe is probably going to want to test the waters just like Carr did. This is his last shot at a big contract and he will get overpaid whether he's in KC or not. Will Bowe want to hang around for another QB in KC? I doubt it. Especially an unknown rookie QB. He's not like Reggie Wayne was last year. Reggie was going into his last contract. Also, Dorsey knows receivers and might prefer Jennings if he is going to pay one big money.

Albert will also demand big money. He will want to paid like a top 5 tackle and he probably deserves it. I really hope we get a deal done with him because in many ways what happens with him will dictate our draft.

Geno isn't a done deal yet. It's hard to say how the new regime will feel about him. I like the kid but, he doesn't look like he could start right away imo. We could throw him into the fire behind a good o-line but, there are questions about how he will transition. He has the best tools but, he isn't as far along as Wilson or Barkley in his progressions imo. He also seems like he lacks some mental toughness. It's like he gets down on himself when he gets behind. He would really be better served sitting for a year imo. Maybe we will sign a vet and draft him too?

Dorsey was a MUCH better prospect coming out and has been developed as a 3-4 end by some of the best in the business.

What I'm trying to make clear as day is that there is NOBODY we can draft that gives us the value that any of the top quarterbacks give us. My preference is Geno Smith because I see him as the total package.

Plus arm
Elite accuracy (to every level of the defense)
Elite vision
Elite work ethic
Plus pocket presence
Plus experience
Played better against ranked teams
His qb rating went up each quarter
His stats improved every year
He has played in a pristine offense and air raid

I am baffled as to why the guy isn't getting a shiton more hype.
Glen Dorsey was a better prospect but, it says quite a bit about this class. Star is way up draft boards. Some even project he'll go #1. He's a good solid player like you say. He's not a game changer but, we have to play the hand we're dealt with this class. It is a very real possibility that we would draft him imo.

Note that as far as Geno goes those are your opinions. There are alot more scouts and draft nuts out there who see Geno as a mid to late first round pick. Honestly, it would be great if he fell and we could trade back or move back into the first and get him. We should all hope for that.

I think you should try and get used to the idea that we will not take a QB with our first pick. I think KC management has subtly been prepping us for it. Also, just about every football man that's interviewed on the radio says it won't be Geno. I think some need to look at him realistically instead of with desperation. I have been a Chiefs fan for 37 years and I feel the same QB pain that you guys do.

Tannehill was a darkhorse. He was projected as a late first to second rounder at this time last year. That's exactly where Wilson is at right now. I watched some tape on Nassib and Dysert today and they look pretty far behind to me. They REALLY stare down WRs. I mean they make Cassel look like the magic johnson of QBs....

We all want the same thing guys. I am mostly talking about what I think KC will do and why. If it were up to me, I would probably try and trade back a couple of spots and draft Wilson or just take him at #1 if I couldn't find a partner.

just my 10 cents

Offensive linemen can be just like QBs. Sometimes it takes a risk to achieve true greatness.

Remember in the 2002 offseason when we let go of Victor Riley and traded for Willie Roaf? ALSO assuming that John Tait would move over to RT? Boy, that was some risky ****ing shit, wasn't it?

Paid off though, yeah?

We're gonna have to do the same with Albert. Trust that he's healthy. With Stephenson as a backup, I don't know about all of you, but I'm totally cool with that. And even if Albert IS screwed long term, that's a fix that can be made next year.
