The terrorists have won!

Quote:
Earlier Wednesday, Sony pulled the film, which depicts the assassination of North Korea's leader, following a threat that people should avoid going to theaters where "The Interview" is playing. The country's major theater companies had said they had decided to postpone or cancel next week's showing.
"In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film "The Interview," we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release," Sony said in its first statement on the matter.
"Sony Pictures has been the victim of an unprecedented criminal assault against our employees, our customers, and our business. ... We are deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie. ... We stand by our filmmakers and their right to free expression and are extremely disappointed by this outcome."

Is there anyone who doesn't already know the plot of a Bond movie? 90% of America could write a Bond movie in a long weekend.

I don't recall. Are those the ones where an evil supervillain tries to kill Bond, but he overcomes them with some amazing physical stunts and nifty gadgets, and then beds down some attractive women?

That makes a ton more sense now. I didn't believe this was all over an insane threat of violence.

The fact of the matter is that Austin Powers killed the Bond franchise. Absolutely slayed it. It was so pitch perfect that it's impossible to watch some of those old Bond films, which were fun but always a bit campy in the 70's, without busting out with laughter.

The "reboot" with Daniel Craig, IMO, has been phenomenal. Quantum wasn't nearly in the same league as Casino Royale, let alone, Skyfall but it was head and shoulders above the past two decades of Bond films.

Sony has a lot invested in 24 and expect it to be the best Bond film of all time as well as being its highest grossing Bond film of all time.

And lastly, it's a damn shame (IMO) that Pierce Brosnan's talents were wasted during that era. I have no doubt that he would have been an absolute badass if he had been given scripts like Skyfall and Casino Royale.

Honestly, I've only seen one Bond movie since I was 12, so I don't keep up. But it does seem like Pierce Brosnan would have been the perfect Bond.

You're due for a Bond marathon! It's a great way to spend a holiday week!

Then, do yourself a favor and follow it up with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.

You'll never look at those old Bond films the same.

Just like Blazing Saddles pretty much killed the western.

Pretty sure this is all a ploy by Sony to pump up ticket sales when they eventually release it. The 'Merica crowd will see it purely out of patriotism. It's ****ing brilliant.

Yeah, this was my take on it. I really don't know whether to see it out of spite or to not see it out of spite.

If the disparaging and denigrating emails hadn't been released, I'd agree.

But what's been released has been very, very damaging.
