Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I haven't seen the Indiana Jones originals since I was a kid. I think it's time to start re-watching it.

Transformers 3.

Wait for dvd. It was actually my favorite of the Transformer movies until it just never ****ing ended. Still some pretty cool action sequences, but not worth more than a $1 rental.

The Biography channel has a two-hour documentary on Queen: "Queen - Days of Our Lives".

Quote:
The inspiring, sometimes tragic, and honest story of four school friends who conquered the music world, selling an astonishing 300 million records. Made with Queen's complete cooperation as part of their 40th anniversary celebration, this unique look at the band features never-before-seen material from the Queen archives and interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor, who founded the band with John Deacon and the legendary Freddie Mercury. Includes first appearances on Top of the Pops and era-defining performances at concerts such as Hammersmith '75, Live Killers in '79, Rio in '85, and Live Aid.
It's quite good. Plays next Sunday at 10:30 a.m. ET. Set the DVR and when you have a couple hours, check it out.

Belfast hood Martin (Jim Sturgess) is recruited by a British agent (Ben Kingsley) to infiltrate the IRA during the height of the Northern Irish conflict and quickly becomes embroiled in a dangerous game that could cost him his life if his secret is found out. As other informers are brutally murdered, Martin starts to look for a way out, but his handler urges him to stay undercover in this taut political thriller based on a true story.
Very good action thriller based on the real-life story of an Irish boy turned British operative infiltrating the IRA. Kingsley is good as always, but Sturgess puts together a damn fine piece of acting in this one. 4 stars.

Love the first movie....genuine classic. I also love the 2nd one and never understood why people give it such a bad rap. I like that its a stand alone adventure, its pretty much dark and brutal and created the PG-13 rating. The 3rd one is solid, but for whatever reason i never liked it as much as te first two.

The sequel is pretty good but didn't quite work as well for me as the first. Still badass but not quite as much.

Fact correction: RED DAWN was the first movie to receive a PG-13 rating from MPAA.

Did you ever watch "Apocalypse Now" and like it and wonder why you do? There's really no story. It's just a mans decent into madness.

I'm watching Martin Sheen punch a mirror as I type.

This is true, but the rating was brought about because of the negativity surrounding Temple of Doom and Gremlins.

yeah that last fight sequence went on forever. I really like these movies, but they are all just so similar. I did like the story better than the last two. I recognized Leonard Nimoy as soon as he spoke and thought is was so super cool when he used that line from Spock's death scene. anybody catch that or am I just that old?

Watched Beastly and Hall Pass with the wife this weekend.

Hall Pass was funny but predictable.

Beastly was meh. At least I had Vanessa Hudgeons to stare at the entire time.
