Christopher Nolan's next: 'Interstellar'

Script was written by his brother, and Spielberg was previously attached.

The script is based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech.

The script for Interstellar was written by Jonathan Nolan, Chris' brother, who worked on The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight, as well as Prestige. Jonathan Nolan (known as Jonah) also has a "story by" credit for Memento, Chris Nolan’s breakout movie.

Steven Spielberg was previously attached to direct Interstellar and produce with Lynda Obst. It is unclear if Spielberg will remain involved, especially considering the director's planned next movie, Robopocalypse, was delayed indefinitely on Wednesday.

I'm with you. I might not drop $16 dollars for a ticket plus another $2-4 for parking, but an RT ranking wouldn't dissuade me from seeing something on cable or convince me to avoid the Blu-Ray or DVD.

I'm a fan of Nolan, but I thought it was great. I don't know if it's his best movie or not... but it's definitely a great IMAX experience. It's probably his most ambitious movie.

And I love that he still shoots with film.

Time.

I own a business and have a family.

Time is limited, and if I can get a general idea of how good/bad a movie is, it helps me to weed out the bad.

I generally don't give a shit what "Critics" think, but a large sample size of normal people gives me a decent idea of what is worth my time and what isn't.

I just got back from an IMAX showing, and Noland didn't disappoint. The visuals were breathtaking, and there was real emotion (MM and Jessica Chastain were really good). The science was heavy, but I appreciated a "blockbuster" trying to tackle something so complex. I'd been looking forward to this for over a year, so I'm glad it delivered.

This sounds odd but I liked the film more after it was over than as I was actually watching it.

At the time some of the few action sequences seemed forced. They seemed to be there just to have an excuse to have an action sequence. Later on they make more sense. A lot you've watched somewhere else before.

It's definitely a film about humanity. Hard to explain.

Like someone made a sci-fi flick with the themes and characters (this family is a lot like the family) from Signs, the pacing and space setting of 2001, and threw in some good old American exploration.

Upon second viewing I like it more. First the obvious, then impressions in spoiler tags.

1) Why is it every time there is a ****ing Affleck there must be some Damon? The inverse applies. I'm pretty sure we got the better Affleck here but still.
2) I thought Anne Hathaway and naked bongos both did a great job. At no point were either of them distracting.
3) There's no political agenda here. At least not to me. The only agenda seems to be that humanity's role is to explore.

Spoiler!
