So I peruse the STLtoday forums from time to time, mainly for Blues discussion, and I'll occasionally pop into the Mizzou forum...clicked on the Gill-Caesar transfer thread and boy did I find some gems...

Quote:
Who cares? This kid definitely didn't show much for us last year. Ok, he was hurt, but look at the options we have at this spot(Wright, Payne, Walton, Van Leer). We need more big guys. I think that when they signed Walton late, they had an inkling that Teki was hitting the road! People here may never understand how big of a rebuild Anderson had to go through after Haith bolted for Tulsa. He needs a couple years to get players and his system in place before being judged.
Quote:
I was in favor of the Anderson hire...the main reason at the time was because you weren't going to get a "Howland" or a big name guy in here with the program hitting rock bottom..not for the money MU was willing to pay..

How much is Auburn paying Pearl and how much will Miss St pay Howland? The answer as far as I know is twice as much as Anderson is getting..
Quote:
This continues to be so funny with you and Uncle Buck. How was Frank Haith's recruiting class at Tulsa? A DISASTER!!!!!!! Danny Manning left the roster in great shape and CFH ran it into the ground. NO ONE of value in recruiting and will be in trouble by the middle of next season.

Kim Anderson, on the other hand, will continue to shine. You're no Mizzou fan, you're a Frank Haith fan. Good for you. Enjoy that stellar recruiting class at Tulsa and look for him to be a high ranked assistant in 2 years.

Mizzou is in great shape. Had a very solid recruiting class and it's only going to get better.
Quote:
If Anderson is on borrowed time and only into his 2nd year of cleaning up a disaster that Haith left him, that is a poor mistake on the administration and AD. No coach, whether it be one with a good track record or an up and comer, would ever touch or sniff this place if an opening occurred after Anderson was at the helm for only 2 years.

I get the fact that everyone wants instant results, 5 star players and Final Four banners....but, realistically, our program has never been about having 5 star players or Final Fours. We have won historically, but the state of the program has been in a decline since the departure of Mike Anderson due to the imbalance of scholarships distributed throughout the years and coupled with Haith's quick fix on the JUCO/transfer players.

To get the program back to winning and just flat out competing, you have to take a step backwards (like last year) in order to get where you want to go in the future.
Holy shit...

Here's the problem - they aren't confused as to why it's not worked out at all; they're simply convinced that he hasn't been given the needed time or resources to turn things around.

And when it invariably flames out (because there is no amount of time or resources that will salvage this hire), they'll double down on that argument while simultaneously blaming the players for being bad seeds that didn't want to play under a coach that demanded accountability. They'll blame everyone but the true son and say that Mack Rhodes screwed him.

Being in Columbia, the Norm Acolytes are easy to find and hard to ignore. They are their very own class of delusional.

The old saying applies strongly to these folks - "Frequently wrong...never in doubt". They're the worst kind of influential.

The good news is that this is the last hire they'll have any influence over. This is a purifying fire. It's all over but the crying for the lot of blue hairs that have held this program in purgatory for far FAR too long. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, I just hope we hired the right AD to make the call.

I rest my case.

You can see this coming from a mile away.

I give zero ****s about these folks. They're dinosaurs. With Alden's ouster, they don't have anyone's ear anymore. All they can do is throw money at the problem but even money hasn't been the issue of late. The Tigers have the athletic budget to bring in a quality coach.

They simply didn't have the political will to do so.

Agreed, it's just crazy to me how insane some of these people are...I give zero ****s about the Kim Anderson TRUE SON bullshit narrative, I just want a winning program.

I just can't believe how some cling to that notion so hard, even at the cost of winning....

I'd just like to know what the **** Anderson's system is supposed to be. I couldn't see anything that looked like a cohesive approach.

Those comments are ****ing hilarious and typical of the defenders on PowerMizzou, who are convinced that Kim Anderson walked into the worst situation of all time.

Well, guess what... maybe he shouldn't have booted Cameron Biedschied for testing positive for pot. Maybe he shouldn't have booted Torren Jones. He ****ed his roster, himself, before a game was ever played.

Maybe he shouldn't have told Danuel House "Sorry, we don't take transfers."

Maybe he shouldn't have continued to force minutes to wastes of space, sperm and oxygen like Post and Rosburg, and instead just gone small and pushed tempo.

This "Woe is us, he's the best we could do because that big, bad [word they're thinking but will only say at home] screwed everything up" attitude needs to die.

The only limiting factors on the Missouri basketball hire were the Mikes Alden and Middleton, whose reputations pushed a lot of good coaches away, and who consistently aimed low on coaching hires.

Don't forget that they are convinced Cullen Van Leer is the next Jimmy Chitwood as well.

I hate to defend Anderson, but Torren Jones had to go, and Cam had bigger problems than weed.

The House deal was indefensible, and Kapita isn't much better.

Next Danny Allouche seems more likely.

A good outcome would be him returning a Josh Kroenke-like career.

I know Jones had some theft problems but haven't heard anything more than unconfirmed rumors about Cam OTHER than the pot test.

He also could have tried to keep Kevin Punter (but we don't take transfers!)

I'm just sick of the excuses.

It's ridiculous. I love the "his roster sucked" defense. His roster sucked because he made bad decisions. It's like defending someone who murdered his parents by saying "he's an orphan".

The nature of the theft was a huge problem, and there was another issue with him as well. I don't know if Anderson even found out about that one.

I think the best part about this hire are the assistants.

"Ooh, he got the guy from Huntington Prep. Ooh, the coach of the St. Louis Eagles. That will get us inroads with all the St. Louis talent."

Is there any way we can kill John Wick's dog and blame it on Anderson?
