Steeler-proofing the Chiefs.

How do we improve this team in the 2018 offseason to finally get this team ready to beat Pittsburgh reliably?

Because Pitt isn't going to be where this problem ends. Jacksonville, the Rams, the Titans... any team with a halfway decent OL and a truck of a RB stable is going to plow us.

Does bringing Bennie Logan back really fix our issue?

I think the corrections have to be focused at the linebacker position.

Dee Ford has one year left on his deal. The Chiefs really need to make a priority of drafting a stud OLB this year.

If nothing else, maybe this necessitates the trading of Alex Smith. The dropoff from 2017 Smith to 2018 Mahomes can't be that huge, and if we get a 2nd or (god forbid) a 1st, we could package it with our other 2nd if need be to go get the elite passrusher this team needs.

If we can get a big bodied stud to pair with Houston long term, then Pitt can't just plow through Ford/Zombo willy nilly and maybe the Chiefs can more reliably get to the QB.

Thoughts?

6 yards.

The offense had six yards, folks, in the first half.

Don't hate on Sutton. Criticize and such, but that's a Super Bowl defensive coordinator.

Based on his ability to scheme so that just about any offense is controlled.

We've had a chance to win every game of the Reid era, except last year's Steelers game.

I can't think of another game our defense couldn't keep us in it.

And the D forced a punt on the first drive of the game!!! Does anybody really expect a defense to play well when they're on the field for 23 goddamn minutes a half!?!?

There are still clear problems with the run D that need to be addressed, but it's actually insane to blame this loss on the defense.

It’s their own damn fault they were on the field for so long

They didn't do themselves any favors, but it's not their fault that the offense kept going 3-and-out or worse. More offensive snaps means fewer defensive snaps means fewer chances for the defense to give up big plays. It also means the defense doesn't get completely worn down by halftime.

Again, the defense actually set the tone by forcing a punt on the first drive. A lack of offense put the defense in a position where breaking was much more likely than bending.

The offenses potential is capped in large part by our offensive line. Time to draft a fatty.

Same thing goes for our defense only it's being capped by our inside linebackers instead. DJ doesn't have the speed to get to the edge anymore and Bell took advantage of it.

I'd start with a true replacement for DJ. Need a reliable guy that can seal up gaps and be able to cover a long range.

I'm a fan of the kid from Texas.

Good sideline to sideline lb, a better edge presence and a physical chain mover when the speed aspect doesn't work will go a long way.

I think that the Chiefs need to watch how Ehinger or Witzmann develop at LG. If it doesn't work now, I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a G in round 1.

I know it's not everybody's favorite, but we need to do everything possible to help Pat succeed.

No it didn't. They controlled the ball most of the game with Bell gashing us for 170 yards and winning the AFC offensive player of the week. By controlling the ball our Offense never could get in Rhythm.

If not for that one fluke play that should have been intercepted we should have won.

Also , Yes , if Mahommes was playing that game we would have won too.

Steeler proof the team?

Need to draft an ILB early.
Kpass needs to gain experience to learn how to rush.
Another pass rusher since Ford looks like a disappointment.
Need another corner.

You don't need to draft a guard in the 1st round. I'd recommend finally spending some draft capital on a wide receiver or two. See what Hopkins and Fuller did for Watson against us. This team has the worst WR depth chart by far in the AFC West. It's time to change that.
